uniforms act as a leveler, allowing all students from the most different backgrounds to walk on common ground. Also, wearing a school uniform helps for all students instill a sense of belonging and increases self-esteem.

School uniforms would save parents money. The up front cost of a uniform would be much less than a new wardrobe of the new "coolest" styles

Side: Good

Children will be that much less focused on appearance and more on learning. Appearance can be very distracting for pre-teens and teens.

There is such a thing called Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). It is found in children who never don't pay attention during a class and be there a school uniform policy or not, it won't affect their attention level on education during a class. ADHD is caused by too much of different entertainments such video games, movies, internet, anything that makes students busy daydreaming about pleasant things during a class and that is the root of all the disturbance from education. Instead of implementing school uniforms, there should be other actions taken to get read of ADHD and stop punishing everyone for the actions of a few.

the uniform gives the sense oneness...and helps in keeping away the classy and snobby thinking away

That is a load of BUNK. Children will still be petty and find reasons to be snobby, egotistical etc. They will have issue with hairdoes, backpacks, appartent intelligence, braces, glasses and a whole slew of other things. Making children comform and making them robots does not do what you have claimed. You do not give todays children emnough credit they are not mindless drones!

If everyone wears same cloths, it doesn't make them a perfect community. It takes years to create "oneness" in a group of people and there are much better aspects of education that could influence the creation of "oneness", for example psychological classes and activities dedicated on development of students as a "more" perfect community.

If school uniforms exist to discipline students, then we punish all students for the actions of a few, instead schools could concentrate their methods on troublemakers.

no, school uniform also will help to know is this student from this school or not, by wearing uniform, also student will have discipline.

School uniforms don't necessarily save family budget, in fact it would be cheaper to buy normal cloths. For example, the other day I saw a lady begging for money infront of a mosque, stating that she needs money for her children's uniforms.

Yes, school uniform is cost money, but not so much like different clothes for every day, and it is more cheaper to buy school uniform for all academic year than to buy different clothes.

School uniforms diminish self expression. Teenagers have to express themselves as it is one of the main aspects of building a personality. Punishing free expression of students for the few benefits of school uniforms is totally not worth it. That is very similar to communist approach to a community, which is making analogous robots out of individuals who in fact have unique personalities that just started forming.

In my opinion schools are not intended for that kind of self-expression. If you want to express yourself then do it outside the school.

Schools are intended for education. And pupils should think about studying but not about clothes. That is why a lot of schools have uniforms.

I am studying in university now, and we don't have uniform here but I would wear it with a great pleasure, if it was

How very sad. Schools are NOT for self expression. Then what is art and music class about? School is the perfect outlet for self expression and creativity. School is not their to keep discipline that is the parents job. The schools are their to educate, inform, inspire and encourage creativity and individulaity. These are necessary skills needed to get along in society. Therefor it is the schools place to encourage it.

To that point school uniforms stifle these qualities while not instilling discipline or moral character. Clothes are just that clothes. nothing more. I know I would fight a schools policy to force a uniform code. It is not the schools job to decide what children wear!

I agree with Phreekshow's argument. I also wanna add that it is a very "communist" approach to education. Maybe there are some benefits of school uniforms, but I'm sure that there are more disadvantages. Having uniforms in a university? No way! That's just too much!
