A wall is actually addressing the problem. It's doing SOMETHING! What do Democrats do? NOTHING because they want the future illegal immigrant vote. IT IS ALL PURE POLITICS.
Fools who speak of the cost of building a wall while totally ignoring the extreme cost of social programs taking care of illegal immigrants, are laughable.
These same fools simply play to their Liberal ideolog voting blocks.
If you read that, you will find that the wall does not actually address the problem. In fact, building a wall and deporting all illegal immigrants would almost certainly cost more.
On top of that, the cost of building the wall (tens of billions) is unrealistic, and where the wall has already been built, it has proven ineffective.
Lastly, deporting immigrants is expected to cost about $8,318 per immigrant to deport them, at a total cost of tens of trillions of dollars excluding the long term economic costs of deportation, which are expected to be trillions more.
For once, can you try to defend the merits of an idea instead of just attacking other people with baseless accusations?
My last statement to you. The wall is a one time cost. Social program costs go on forever and as we are seeing with the Left ideology, only grow and grow and grow until our nation will collapse from the debt.
The wall most certainly is not a one time cost. There are the costs of maintenance, the tens of thousands of additional guards needed to man said wall, and all of the other costs I have provided evidence of.
Alright, fair point. If we want to be as irresponsible with building maintenance as we tend to be in this country, the wall itself might be a one time cost.
The alternative is that we change our thinking about needing to maintain a wall that will exist because we don't change our thinking about illegal immigrants.
I am not sure what you are getting at. My comment was tongue in cheek because we already have a problem where we don't continue to fund projects like walls that need continued maintenance. I didn't mean to actually suggest I think it really will be a one time cost.

A one time cost! Sure it's a one time cost but trillions of dollars! We are around 25 trillion dollars in debt and increasing! The last thing we need is another debt added onto our current debt!
You'll notice I never said we should "screw illegality", or simply ignore undocumented immigrants. I am saying we should pay attention to what actually makes sense and is feasible.
While I do support the wall, I do not believe we should deport the immigrants that came on our soil illegally. For we are already trillions of dollars in debt and do not need more debt. It's already bad.
If your issue is debt, why support the wall? It would cost a massive amount of money, and thus far the parts of the wall that have been built has been utterly ineffective.
But if you read this article, you will find that where we have built part of the people, it is not effective. People still scale it and (hilariously) jump it with trucks. Why would finishing the wall change that?
Well if we were to pay a guard 20,000 dollars a year, the guards were separated by 100 feet and the length of the border is 1,954 miles. That would be... $20.5 Billion dollars every year.... Yeah never mind... I see your point.

Ok say we do build a wall, ok? That'll be around $100 Billion dollars, then we need guards. The length of the Mexican American border is 1,954 Miles. If we have a gaurd every hundred feet and lay them $20,000 dollars a year (the wage of the average soldier) that would be $20.5 Billion dollars a year on wages alone. Then we take the up keep of the wall. Another $1 Billion dollars a year.

My only problem with your statement is your front on our military program.
Yes we are currently in a defensive war. What do you call the war on terrorism? Do you not think that 9/11 was a breach on our defenses? Do you not think the murder of innocent lives was not an attack?
We are not in any defensive war. No country has declared war upon us. The war on terrorism is a nonsensical military paradigm of attempting to rid the world of a verb, but in reality is a flimsy pretext to go after Islamic Extremism in one particular part of the world. 9/11 was indeed a breach in our defenses, but it was done by a small group not affiliated with any country. We then went to war and invaded a country that did not facilitate that attack at all; similar to our invasion of Afghanistan and our subsequent actions in the same country after Iraq.

Ok say we do build a wall, ok? That'll be around $100 Billion dollars, then we need guards. The length of the Mexican American border is 1,954 Miles. If we have a gaurd every hundred feet and lay them $20,000 dollars a year (the wage of the average soldier) that would be $20.5 Billion dollars a year on wages alone. Then we take the up keep of the wall. Another $1 Billion dollars a year.
