Separation of Church & State: Exempt From Laws, or Equal to Any Other Organization?

So it would seem that four states allow Christian day cares to use corporal punishment. Only Christian day cares. Something about Separation of Church and State being interpreted as meaning that, no matter what somebody does under the facade of Christianity, that facade is a wall of immunity. Sounds like horseshit to me (but, then again, so does Christianity in general). Children get locked in dark rooms for extended lengths of time, thrown into the cement ground, beat until they bruise, and yet state officials are powerless to do anything "because of the Separation of Church and State". Not only that, but they get over $50,000 a year in tax funding all-the-while being dirty, losing children, keeping chemicals in reach of children, etc., and all because they  claim to be "Christian".

Well as far as I am concerned you aren't doing it properly if your whole idea of Separation of Church and State means that the church is exempt from the laws experienced by everyone else - the whole idea of the separation is to make the church equal to any other organization, not turn it into its own extrajudicial entity! There isn't a real separation if the church is allied with the state to receive legal immunity which would not be granted upon anybody or anything else.

Separation of church and state only means that laws don't take your religion into account, period. They don't go out of their way to restrict beliefs and practices, but they also don't tiptoe around them. You pass laws because they have an intrinsic value, but when you start exempting people from them based on their religion then you have crossed a line.

If it is a Christian school why should we care? If the Christian parents didn't want their kids beaten they should put him in normal school.

But, this Christian school shouldn't be getting tax money.
