Should Canada Abolish the Senate??

We Canadians have an upper house (the Senate) and a lower house (the Parliment) There is a growing movement to abolish the upper house. Senators need to own land and they are appointed to their position. They also have job security untill age 75.

Furthermore, one of our Senators is facing sex assualt charges, and back in the day another read his book so he could get it translated into French for free!!

The Senate is useless and is not the will of the people. Honestly? You need to own land, and you are appointed? That's terrible.

I completely agree with you. Because of the whole sex abuse scandal, the official opposition party (The New Democratic Party which is Socialist) fielded a petition which I gladly signed. It's funny because the the NDP are the only party of influence that wants to abolish the Senate. The Conservatives and Liberals support it. Thanks for the support.

It literally goes against everything Canada stands for, democracy. When you think about it, we don't vote them in. Isn't that the point of Canada? To actually be able vote for who we want?
