Yes

YES, but not a government edict. Its a good idea for the world right now.

Side: Yes

Yes, because it will help the government control overpopulation officially and will give the power to it to imprison people who have more than 1 child.

So are you suggesting a social contract then? Without government enforcement, how does that get ensured?

Side: Yes

Well its not ensured. Its only a good idea in the current state of affairs to stop or slow the growth of population. Its sort of like spitting on the sidewalk has faded in it's social acceptability, along with belching and farting. So might the irresponsibility of over populating be seen some day as bad behavior.

Side: Yes

Yes India should opt for one child policy for some time only .The government should firstly improve the living conditions of the present population so that the future generation could live a better life. The government should try to make the country a better place to live and work.

As we know that India is facing many social evils like female foeticides, poverty, homelessness etc and applying one child policy will help us to tackle all the above evils. No spendthrift on orphanages , government schools, hospitals etc. but the money could be used wittily on improving the India's economy.

Side: Yes

Yes as first it would control the population and save the resources more efficiently and it would make the Government able to reduce the taxes and price of resources as their demands would decrease due to less population...

Side: Yes

One child policy is destructive to personal freedom, and family size should only be determined by the parents.

Sometimes personal freedoms impinge on society to a point that their destructive. See: Nadya Suleman "Octomom".

For all the green freaks: Whats the carbon footprint of 14 children.

No, 1 child policy isn't beneficial for our country as, if we look from the family prospective,a family is not complete with only a single child. A single child is not accompanied with any other sibling and hence, becomes introvert.

In villages, where a boy child is more important than a girl child, one child policy won't allow another one if a first one is a girl.

In the old age of parents, all the responsibility of theirs is only on one child.

After a span of time there would also be a problem of labor because of one child policy.

Side: No

No, as at a certain period of time ,the parents can no longer afford another child and due to uncertain mishaps, their child dies at early age the parents loose both, their support for their later life and the joy of seeing their kid grow up as a beautiful young lady or a handsome young man. Also, The family declines.

Lets take an example of china, a mordern and developing country. But, do you know that the youth population of China is almost the half of the older people there which regresses the country's development. Youth population can only be a perfect labour. So, I thinks its not a good idea to opt for one child policy as it also violates the parent's and family's right.
