Should Michele Bachmann's Migraines Disqualify Her From the Presidency?

There are a lot reasons why voters might not get behind Rep. Michele Bachmann in her presidential bid. But should her reportedly debilitating migraine headaches be one of them?

No. Her intolerance towards gays should.

For people who are curious exactly what her views on the subject are, here are a number of relevant quotes from her on the subject of gay marriage and homosexuality in general.

This is my favorite quote from Michelle.

Michelle Bachmann: "It isn't that some gay will get some rights. It's that everyone else in our state will lose rights. For instance, parents will lose the right to protect and direct the upbringing of their children. Because our K-12 public school system, of which 90% of all youth are in the public school system, they will be required to learn that homosexuality is normal, equal and perhaps you should try it. And that will occur immediately, that all schools will begin teaching homosexuality."

This is comic gold. Giving gays equal rights would obviously result in schools telling children they should "try homosexuality". Are we supposed to take this woman's opinions seriously?

How is she intolerant? Tolerance today means........accepting and believing....not just getting along with..

Are gays tolerant to churches that denounce what they do?

Tolerance can mean "accepting and believing" as you say, but it can also mean "just getting along with," or my personal favorite definition: “to endure.”

I don’t like one of my coworkers for instance. I don't accept many things about him such as his attitude toward work and his bullying behavior. I don’t believe him considering he is very prone to make things up in hopes that people will like him. But I do tolerate him because he is my coworker and we need to get our work completed.

Gays are indeed tolerant to churches, they may not agree with their beliefs but given the current state of affairs they have no choice but to tolerate discrimination from churches. Most, if not all, of my gay friends could care less about the church denouncing what they do anyway; they don't want to be accepted in a religious sense in as much as they want the same legal privileges as straight couples.

Until the separation of church and state actually takes effect towards marriages and denies any legal benefits (or altercations for that matter) then I think gays should be allowed to get married and suffer like the rest of us.

Migrains are often a sign of intelligence. In her case though I'm afraid their is some brain-eating insanity going on. She actually used to be pretty bright apparently, today I'm 99.9% sure my 5 year old niece would beat her in any debate in points. Either way that's not a disqualifier, and as a progressive I hope she wins the republican nomination... I wouldn't be surprised if she did either.
