Should a pastor tell if a criminal confides in him?

If a killer is killing people, then goes to confession for forgiveness, and then the next day comes in after killing more people, and then the next day, and the next day, etc and the police can't find him, should the pastor tell the police who the murder is? This is different than the other debate, that I will link to, because this relies on the pastor's responsibility rather than the law. http://www.createdebate.com/debate/show/Should_a_pastor_HAVE_to_tell_if_a_criminal_confides_in_him

Yes. The pastor would be complicite if he helped hide the crime.

Are you talking about a pastor or a priest? What a priest can do with information given during a confession is stipulated in catholic cannon.

A pastor is usually a leader in a baptist sect of Christianity, which has less defined guidelines for any confession, because confession is not a staple of baptist sects.

Mind me for not knowing. I mean whoever one would call father, when going into the confession booth.

Yes, of course he should, he doesn't really have any remorse.

Side: Yes

I think a priest should even though it means that he will be excommunicated.

No. if that happens then no person, criminal or not, would be able to trust and confide. a pastor's job is not to stand as a witness against the confessor. that would leave no trust and people who commit simple mistakes and confide wouldn't be able to do so either.

I would say No because if he does, the criminal would never trust him nor any other servant of God again. For the pastor, he should see that the criminal's confidence in him is the first step towards his repentance. Just thinking.
