Yes, Scum of the Earth!!

I think this is an idea whose time has come. It is well established that there is a link between animal abuse and violence against people. It needs to be seen as the horrific crime it is.

The goal of the registry, which would list crimes against both pets and farm animals, is to make it easier for shelters and animal-adoption groups to identify people who shouldn't be allowed access to animals.

Abuses covered in the bill would include the malicious and intentional maiming, mutilation, torture, wounding or killing of a living animal. It would also target pet hoarders and operators of animal-fighting rings (such as dog-baiting and cockfighting) who have felony convictions.

This registry needs to happen.

its not stupid before buying an animal they should be looked up on a website to say if they are animal abusers because of all the animals that end up getting hurt and ending up in shelters... if they had to be looked up before getting an animal it would cut back on animals brought to shelters from being abused

Cruelty towards animals should not be tolerated. One who may be convicted of animal abuse, alike sex offenders, should be displayed to the public eye as criminals. They too are breaking a law, the oversee of animal treatment could dramatically change both owner and animal's lives.

Yes they should be registered on a public list. Cruelty towards animals is not just mistreating animals in the care of oneself it is also when a person engages in human crimes (i.e: Assault) towards an animal. Although this doesn't pose as a direct threat to the animals it does however pose a threat to the owners of the pets and animals.

This law should have been passed years ago for the whole of America make it really hard for these scum of the earth impossible to ever have the right to ever adopt or purchase any animals ever again. What can we do to help get this law passed????????????

It's a waste of time. the animals can't use it and I don't think many humans would use it.

They do not pose a danger to other humans. It is not like the animals will check the list everyday in search of zoophiles!

Side: NO, Just Ridiculous

The article and issue is mostly concerned with animal abusers physically and not sexually. Yet, it is ridiculous that government must publicly display animal abusers. it is quite different than sex offenders with humans.
