Executing them would also prevent them from re-offending. If we expect our young to behave when the fear of violent retribution has subsided we need to teach them by using our minds, not by hitting them with our rulers.

To resort to violence is an admission of failure. Teachers should lead by example.

Side: Against

No. Corporal punishment is wrong. It is a deterrent to a child from wanting an education.

If a teacher moved to attack me I would be forced to take pre-emptive action and strike first. As most teachers are overweight and/or ageing, I doubt they would be physically fit to carry out the punishment, and would thus be easily defeated. Any such legislation would result in teachers being beaten by their students.

Side: Against

Couldn't have said it better myself. Of course if we struck first then we would get suspended. So we would have to let them strike first for "self defense" to be considered.

"Any such legislation would result in teachers being beaten by their students"

Yes, especially since some students carry more than their fists as weapons.

Then you would be expelled/suspended which can leaves a mark on your entry towards college/university etc.

In that case, sir, I would be forced to rely upon my magnificent intellect.

XD I'd love to see a teacher try to hit me. I'm usually a good student but when I'm in the right I get punished because the way the school system is, eh, what are you going to do. But if I do something and get physically punished for it I lose respect fast.

Maybe it's okay to kind of smack a hand in younger schools, but other than that, NO.

Side: Against

No children shouldn't be hit in school.
