I agree within the context of the definition. I'm not really in favor of giving lethal injections to people who ask for it but i agree with "allowing [people] to die, as by withholding extreme medical measures." That wouldn't be too different from Do Not Resuscitate. Side: yes
You think that euthanasia should be legalized but have you thought about consequences. I think that once euthanasia is legalized it will be impossible to control it .What about pressure on the vulnerable? They might consider themselves as a "burden of society" and would choose death even if it is not what they truly want. They will die because they would think that it will be right and beneficial for others. Side: No

From the individual perspective, euthanasia sounds like a good idea. It represents the ultimate freedom - the freedom to call it quits when there's no point prolonging the suffering. However from the societal perspective, legalizing euthanasia may lead to abuse by the state, by medical staff or relatives of the sick. Anxious to save costs or to reap the benefits upon the death of a rich relative, these other parties may directly or indirectly apply pressure and try to persuade those who are not ready to die to do so -- just because euthanasia is now legal. What starts as the right to die may be transformed into the pressure to die. There should be thorough and proper safeguards against various abuses before we even start to consider the legalization of euthanasia. In the meanwhile, there is palliative care and those who really wish to opt to die would have to independently find some means to help them to do so. Side: No
The pressure from others for you to live or die exist independent of the law on euthanasia. So is your will to live. If you really want to live, no amount of laws allowing you to die or pressures from relatives is going to kill you. On the other hand, if you really want to die, a law banning assisted suicide or relatives telling you that they really love you probably won't save you, you'd probably try and figure a way to die (albeit illegally). Legislated properly, the law can safeguard against abuses. Side: yes
