Should gay couples be able to marry?

No, we shouldn't let gay couples marry. Supporting marital unions is costly to both the state and the taxpayer. Goverment passes laws because they are beneficial to the wellbeing and continuation of the state. The burden of proof lies on the advocates of gay marriage to show that a greater societal benefit is gained from legislating gay marriage. 1
