But for people like me who come from local farming backgrounds, the livestock are nothing less then pets. We name them, pick favorites, even sleep with some of them as you would a dog or cat. Why isn't it wrong to kill and eat a cow or chicken if its wrong to eat any other house pet? They are no less of an animal,and certainly not any less intelligent, pigs are often much more intelligent then your normal cat and almost always smarter then any dog. Or are you in the position that all animals should be immune from being eaten? That would just be illogical to quite the extreme.

Do you eat meat? If the answer is yes, then your comment is hypocritical. I don't mean to sound rude or bring your feelings down.

I just gave your comment a two second thought and it hit me.....you said inhumane. It is not inhumane. Humans need meat to survive. In my own personal comment to this debate, i stated that we now have meat substitutes. But what about for the people who don't have substitutes? It is not inhumane to slaughter because slaughtering was one of the needed skill to survive. Human in the past needed meat to survive.

Is it inhumane now that we be other options??? As a human, no. LOL, it is inhumane to sell pets and buy food with money. That to me is inhumane because that is not a skill needed to survive.

I could be wrong because im nearly positive. Dunno.
