Should later generations live on other planets besides Earth?

We never know what might happen to Earth in future generations. If they read this they might be more influenced to either stay on Earth or leave in one of those high-tech spaceships for Mars

I have to say that if there is another planet open and is fit for life why not? We will run out of room on Earth eventually .

Side: Definetely

I think liberals should have their own planet. Same for conservatives. Then after a few decades we compare notes and see who's right.

Yes but by then the two groups would have split again into four distinct groups of "liberals" and "conservatives" would the conservatives from the liberal planet have to move to the conservative planet and vise versa?

Side: Mother Earth hasn't failed yet

The conservative planet would make it a crime to be a liberal.... punishable by death ;)

Side: Mother Earth hasn't failed yet

I think other generations should live as far away from me as possible and stop crowding me in. I need living space and I'm tired of rush hour traffic. ;)

To paraphrase Carl Sagan, eventually our Sun will die, and if we're still stuck on Earth, everything about the human race will die with it.

Spread out the human race and we are less likely to be killed off. If we all stay in one place then it would be easier for a thing like a meteor to kill us all. However I don't think we should colonize planets that have some sort of life on it already don't want to pick up some alien plague. Instead find ways to make lifeless planets habitable and fill it with lifeforms that are from earth.

Side: Definetely

It is inevitable that our star, Sol, will eventually die. The survival of humanity depends, in the long term, on it's ability to colonize other planets and eventually other star systems. Of course, that's if we survive long enough to worry about such things.

although the other side also has a point but i don't think this side would only state that earth has failed to provide us with everything.

our earth has always n continues to give us everything we have always wished for. but i do think that the earth would be a lot more prettier as well as spacious(i dunno how else to put it. i frgt the word. :/). infact it would be such an exposure to the new generation to explore and live on another planet. if it is possible i am pretty sure they will have enough of new technology similar to aeroplanes so that movement would be easier and affordable :P

earth is already becoming overcrowded and with people having children later on earth a new planet would be a great way to take relief of earth

Eventually the sun will explode, that is inevitable. The generations alive then should definitely move to a different planet, so I think maybe Kepler 22-b since that is the best planet we've found so far.

what if you have no food and there is another planet with supplies that we need we should go to the planet with food water and other supplies

Although the Earth hasn't failed yet, the population will be so huge that once we find a habitable planet, IF we find one, we should attempt to colonize it. On top of increasing populations, our resources aren't all renewable and a sense of adventure would be nice.

I had trouble deciding which side to write this on, since neither side was wrong in my view. There wasn't a "Yes" and "No". It was more of a "Yes" and "Eventually. But not RIGHT now... maybe."

The question wasn't whether or not every person right now should get up and leave Earth. We're not even debating ever leaving Earth. The question was whether other planets should be populated in the (potentially) distant future. Even then Earth could still remain populated.

Side: Definetely

Even though Mother Earth has not as yet failed us, it may if we cannot preserve what we have here. If future generations are given the opportunity to live elsewhere in the universe, whether Mother nature fails us or not...I think it would be a very interesting experience. I think the biggest question lies in the colonization of the planet (s). I certainly would like to see well planned planets based on our present system where all people may live, pursue their happiness and be free. I believe segregation of any kind would not be beneficial to the new colonies lest we begin interstellar warfare which may tip the balance.

Side: Mother Earth hasn't failed yet

Maybe several hundred years from now but I don't see any reason for future generations to be living on other planets in our present time.
