Carrying a gun is carrying a gun. What's it's main purpose? To kill. A pistol and a machine gun can kill someone easily, even though a machine gun is a lot more effective. If you're a police officer, especially in a bad city, you should be carrying as much as possible, so you're able to SAVE as many people as possible. as for how much that'll cost, I don't know if I support that. also take into consideration how much power a police officer might think he has cause an angry power streak from a police officer with a machine gun is a lot worse than with a pistol. but most police officers, even in history, tend to abuse their power with batons and not pistols, when it comes to police brutality. Also, most police officers aim is to help people cause I know the pay doesn't do shit for them. I don't think they should JUST carry machine guns, because if that was the case, their accuracy, especially fired in automatic rounds could kill an innocent person. I think when it comes to the money though, to supply every cop with machine guns, is a lot of wasted money. Police officers In a good city won't need that much of a weapon but a police officer in Detroit, may. I think maybe the roughest cities should pack some extra heat. Most police officers use pistols though because it's really effective. They don't try to take on armies usually and they're usually going against one or two people that aren't armed. When the criminals are armed, they usually only need a pistol in order to get the job done or distract them enough so they can get backup, and usually backup is very effective, especially when they know what the criminals look like, and where they're going. It usually comes fast too. Usually a pistol is enough to protect yourself cause when it comes to gun vs gun, it's whoever gets the first shot off. that doesn't really matter to police cause they also stay protected, while the other people don't. Like I said, machine guns should only be carried by police if you're facing multiple enemies, and you need to hold yourself off till backup arrives. so I think the most dangerous cities in the world might wanna take that into consideration, to have their officers protect themselves, and the lives of others, better with heavier guns.
Yeah the heavy part of it I agree on, but if you really needed one ,and you're approaching a terrible situation then having one in your car will help in order to help yourself better. It's better having more power when you're in a position that you're standing in one spot anyway, trying to hold people off.
If someone came into your house with a damn machine gun and you had a pistol, who would win? You would most likely be dead with that pistol. And to the person that got 4 points for saying "police are there to protect people, not massacre them". Would you rather get massacred or massacre? cause people that are firing their heavy duty ak 47's aren't going to go easy on you and that pistol is going to get you killed. that's why more cops are starting to carry heavier weapons. Too many cops die already from MURDERERS. Last time I checked, there's a death penalty for that.
Depends. Listen, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but that situation is not a video game. Realistically we don't know. Besides, it is illegal for citizens to have machine guns in most states.
I'm tried of the "machine gun vs hand gun" debate. It's pretty much pointless.
Id like anyone right now tell me that they wouldn't feel safer with a machine gun in their car. Especially if you're in the countries worst city. would you bring a knife to a gunfight? The same thing applies to bringing a pistol to a machine gun fight. cops are barely protected these days and that's why a lot of em die. Cops put their lives in danger everyday. They have families to support and kids that look up to them. If a cop is in a dangerous situation with only a pistol, when he's facing a madman with a machine gun, then he's dead. Most cops in detrot and other bad cities now carry machine guns in their car to not only protect their lives but to help other people protect their lives.no one wants a cop least dominant in a bad situation. Unless the cop is a complete racist or corrupted by something. A cop is always at a disadvantage against a machine gun. That petty criminal with that machine gun will kill that cop, tear apart their family and the kids will wonder what happened to their father. All because he didnt match up against that dangerous criminal. Helping the cops in bad cities, I don't see what's wrong with that when they're by themselves for that period of time. A cop is here to protect people and themselves. How can they protect someone when they have weaker weapons then the opposing force? sure they have help when backup arrives but till then, they need to help themselves otherwise they have a high chance of dying. That's like an army equipped with pistols going against an army equipped with machine guns. Who's gonna die? same thing applies to individual situations. NO ONE wants the people that protect us.. At a disadvantage.
Well since I was down voted I feel like I should clear this up.
What a pistol will do is keep people from committing the crime, or when they do, stop them cold, what a machine gun will do is stop them, their grandmother, their uncles and nieces, and tell the rest of the neighborhood "Don't fuck with us!"
We all know the police is a legal gang, they might as well be open about it.
Also, what's wrong with taking a 'Zero tolerance policy' on crime?
It doesn't matter if they're still people. if someone is shooting at you with the intent to kill you , then it's kill or be killed. You don't sit there trying to shoot at his leg when he has an automatic gun shooting you everywhere. Why take it easy on a murderer?
If the way I feel about it didnt matter then you wouldn't be arguing with me. Cops are here to serve and PROTECT, you're right. They have to protect themselves in order to protect someone else. Also they're here to serve justice. The last time I checked, we give the death penalty to murderers. If you were in that situation where someone was trying to kill you or MULTIPLE people were trying to kill you then the LAST thing you would be doing is trying to shoot them in the damn leg. If someone is rushing you then you gotta kill them or you put your life at risk. The intimidation factor of you having a machine gun would prevent a rushed attack to hold you off till backup arrives.
I don't agree with that. Obviously they're there to protect people. You're not understanding my words. if you're facing multiple hostile criminals, wanting to kill you, what're you going to do, slowly shoot them? If you're on the verge of dying, it's either kill or be killed. Trying to slow them down with just a pistol will get you killed easily if you have no one around you. Try standing behind a car with people shooting you and having multiple enemies pursue you to kill you so they can escape. What is a pistol going to do against 5 machine guns? It isn't hard to keep a machine gun in your car JUST IN CASE you need it. Police officers die when they're by themselves and the time you're by yourself to the time your backup arrives, might decide whether or not you live or die. carry a pistol with you and take out the machine gun when it's NECESSARY.
Usually they do a stakeout at the criminal's 'base', using tear gas and pistols. They very rarely shoot anyone. If there are many, out on the streets (terrible planning on behalf of the police), there may be cause to bring the army in. Police would be equipped with riot shields in such a situation, though. I can't imagine what kind of lunatic would send a lone police officer into somewhere where they are likely to be set upon by a gang, though.
Yeah they very rarely shoot anyone because in most of these instances they die. I'm just saying if a cop is out there unprepared and only having a pistol on him, wouldn't it be best if he had a machine gun on him just in case? cops don't roll around with tear gas and stuff when they're rushing to a scene or at an unexpected fight. I do agree with you though instead of using machine guns, they should be using tear gas. but in a direct confrontation tear gas won't be enough to stop them unless you wanna hurt yourself too. Machine gun is faster in this case and won't mess you up close. putting on a mask and trying to get tear gas off in time when it's spontaneous is too long opposed to just pulling out a gun to scare them off. .....imagine you're a cop and a gun fight breaks out with multiple people having heavy guns. they know you're the only cop at the scene. If you went for tear gas, your enemies might be spread out, one could be rushing your car, and your life is now at stake. Now imagine the machine gun. You walk into this fight , pull it out and shoot in multiple directions(if there's no innocent people) and scare them off. If I was a criminal, I wouldn't mind trying to dodge a pistol and tear gas , especially if there's a ton of distractions happening. But if a cop pulled out a machine gun, the chances of me dying if I try to confront up close would be high. Plus take into factor of the criminals wearing body armor. If the worst cities knew their cops rolled with machine guns, their would be less crime. The intimidation factor is high and they know if they commit a crime with violence, they'll most likely end up dead
I don't see there being a situation where a machine gun would be necessary though. The normal police in my country don't even carry pistols, never mind a machine gun.
police officers with machine guns would obviously only fire when it's needed. There is no way they'll fire into a crowd of innocent people with a gun that powerful.. They have pistols for a reason. If a cop is in a situation with only a pistol and he's facing multiple enemies, like you said a machine gun is used for, then it's better having a machine gun. When cops face multiple enemies, with powerful guns and aimed to kill cops, what is a pistol going to do till their backup arrives? Not a lot. someone can easily rush you and kill you so they can make a quick escape. If you had a machine gun? I don't think many people will rush you with a bunch of bullets flying their way. Also cops have died plenty of times facing multiple enemies, waiting for backup. I think a machine gun might increase their chances of survival.
Try slowing multiple enemies down when you're by yourself with a pistol and no backup on you and they have heavy machine guns. If you shoot at a cop, Expect to die. A cop won't second guess it. They aren't going to put their lives at stake JUST trying to slow them down and not killing them. It's called self defense.
2. If the single cops puts his self in the open and tries to spray/shoot multiple enemies anyway he is wide open to get shot and his efforts would be in vain. So a pistol is enough.

I'm aware the gun has more than one bullet. I don't know of any modern day pistol that only shoots one bullet. Also, I didn't think they would be clustered and that's why I said "they'll probably be scattered". Now, when a cop is trying to take cover behind is car and sees people shooting at him, trying to protect other people, what happens if people start rushing him, maybe trying to kill him or take him as hostage. These guys with machine guns arent scared of a pistol, especially if they're equipped. BUT if these people know he has a machine gun, they aren't going to rush that cop, and his life would be saved. Also putting machine guns In the back of select few cop cars in the countries most dangerous cities, isn't that hard to do and it gives no disadvantage , only benefits.
No pistols, tazers and pepper spray are fine. If the criminal they're after is notoriously dangerous get the dog squad or SWAT. Police aren't looking to slaughter the criminal if it does come to shooting the criminal they only want to temporarily cripple him so that they can arrest them.
Cripple their sight so they can't see where they're shooting, not to mention they still got tazers and a pistol. And if they are going after someone they know has heavy guns they'll send in SWAT or a dog squad.
By the time you take out that pepper spray, you'll have 36 big bullets in your chest. And that's IF they know. Most of the time they rush straight to the scene and most of the time they're unprepared. If you're there when it starts, you got nothing until backup comes. You my as well have a machine gun in your car just in case.

Obviously that is an over exaggeration. I was trying to make a point about how quick something could happen to you when you're in an unexpected fight and you have a pistol vs a criminal with a machine gun. I would think it wouldn't be a disadvantage to have one in your car to take out if you need extra power.

You cannot fire unless shot upon first. You cannot use massive firepower unless the enemy has it. If you violated this rules you will be deemed as the "aggressor".
Under the rules of conduct, it is a must to use only small arms and call for SWAT only when it is necessary

may I ask, but are you referring to the SMG types of gun? Cause the machine that I am thinking of are those that carries armor piercing bullets.

Cities with the most organized crimes has the busiest roads. They may not be an instant, but they are fast enough to catch the criminals or block roads

I dont really mind Assualt Rifles as even ordinary USA citizen are free to have it. But just not those that needed Military license. Those are too powerful
That was an exotic smiley lol and yeah that's what I'm sayin. If ordinary people carry assault rifles, then criminals do, and cops should be fairly matched against them on that aspect.
They're doing a pretty shitty job with their normal pistols and stun guns. Before we start issuing better guns, we need to issue better police. Then again, I don't even live in America so I'm only going on the news I see on the internet.
