Should schools allow mobile devices to be used as educational devices?

It amazes me how much school leaders can be against new devices just because of their ability to be abused. I remember being in High School and Middle School, the hostility towards cell phones was intense. If a cell phone was even seen they were confiscated. iPods the same.

New technology are great learning tools.

I know! In my middle school you couldn't have any phones out or anything or it will get confiscated but once I hit high school I was impressed that you could have your electronics out at lunch time and passing periods.

If it can be done so effectively and efficiently. Why not? I personally think kids use mobile devices too much, but we're not going to win that fight. If you can put an app on a cell phone that helps them educationally, then why?

It sounds to me as though you are assuming that mobiles are already allowed. It sounds that way to me. After all, if a mobile device is used for anything else it is used for something, and that means that you are just considering whether or not to allow people to be educated because of it.

To answer it, though, we must ask ourselves whether we think that education is a good thing. I am not opposed to learning, and furthering yourself in life, however some people may not have such an obvious thought. In what way is education bad? If a mobile device is going to be used anyway it may as well be used for good purposes.

I think that if mobile devices are going to be used anyway, it may as well be used to educate people as doing the opposite would just be stupid.

As long as the mobile unit is concentrating on what the teacher is instructing.

It might be a distraction to the pupils and their grades might drop. If the pupils lost them in school, the prefects, teachers and etc have to take great care as they might consider it as a "crime case". Just because of the device, people have to help the pupils to create such a fuss and it is really troublesome. Thus, i do not agree with this motion.

Moblie devices are too small. You can hardly type and save notes in the "NOTES" app

Mobile devices also have less battery life.

Considering Mobile devices like Notes they can help reduce the burden of children's school bags... Children can share their ideas class-notes thoughts projects etc with other students. If misuse is to be considered then the e-notes can be provided with IMEI numbers and strict rules can be implemented. Teachers and moderators can have 24X7 access of files, documents and websites accessed by students. Except private stuff like G-mail Facebook etc. Battery is not a factor as notes give a power backup of 4-5 hours and 2 batteries would be enough. E-notes can make learning a new and great experience for students.
