Should smoking be banned in public places?

Yes

Not everyone wants to be exposed to smoke. Non-smokers have the right not to smoke, so keep it away from us.

Then do not smoke. If a public place is in any way offensive to you, you can leave. And outdoors, you aren't being made to smoke, you just have to deal with a little smelliness. First world problem.

It makes a lot more sense to make the smokers leave, since they're the ones getting everyone else sick. Does lung cancer count as a first world problem?

Secondhand smoke can cause harm in many ways.

Rather than copying all of those reasons second hand smoke is still bad, if not worse, I just provided the link.

I read in a different article, that I don't entirely believe but don't dismiss either, that said second hand smoke is actually worse for people than the smoking itself.

Getting cancer and or dying is a problem, first or third world.

Yes. It is my body, my right and my choice. If I want to be smoke free, that is my right. People can smoke in designated areas.

Side: Yes

You are agreeing to ban them but posting against the ban of smoking in public?

I do not want to make smoking illegal. I just want smokers to keep to a certain area and not inflict their habit on others. Second hand smoke often causes nausea and headaches, among other things. When I was a smoker, I would turn around and walk away if someone walked towards me because my code of honor said to not inflict my habit on other people. Does that make sense?

Your argument is contradicting your saying it's your choice and your body and you want to be smoke free yet you also want to ban smoking in public areas even though the people that smoke have the choice to smoke or not because it is their body and their choice...

My right to be smokefree is more important. I have the right to not be sick. Smokers do not have the right to make people sick.

Why should a minority of people who wish to slowly poison themselves be allowed to slowly poison the majority of people who don't?

Side: Yes

Yes, only 30% of the smoke you smoke actually stays in your body, the 70% left you exhale out into the air, for others to breathe.

I think it is okay to smoke, but you should respect that some people don't want disgusting toilet cleaner into their lungs.

Yes, the right of the people who care for their health trumps the right of the people who are careless about theirs. If, of course, we still are capable of generating some reasonable values.

Side: Yes

They should ban smoking because some people don't like it and some children will die. If the person smokes and keep on going he will have a heart attack.

Smoking what? Please be specific.

Side: No

Well I guess we don't know, so we'll just have to try everything until we get arrested! I got a cigar, some ganja, an cig that was dipped in LSD and some crack. Lets get a' smokin!

I guess not.... I've been sitting here waiting for an answer for 20 hours now but.... nada.

Smoking is just something people do, Saying that you can not do it in a public place is like saying you are not allowed to show your thoughts in a public place. It's just something that defines who you are :)

Defines who u are? I'm pretty sure most smokers don't say that smoking defines who they are.

Side: Yes

Never have I ever heard someone introducing themselves as ''Kevin, the smoker'', or ''Hi, I'm Kevin and I smoke''.

Smoking a cigarette doesn't define you, does eating burgers define me? No, the only thing that is different with eating a burger in public and smoking a cigarette in public is, that burgers don't make the people around you fat too.

Jesus this is ridiculous. If you want a shit government to govern you and allow it to be legal, then fine. But don't say " You can have it, just not near us..."

Freedom, seems a necessity our society no longer needs ( but is crying out for.)

Side: No

Why? The Federal Government (not including state and local governments) own about 30% of all the land in America, if you're gonna tell me that you "can't get away from the smokers" I'm calling bullshit.
