Yes because if the teacher teaches a lesson in order for the teacher to see if the students really understand the lesson they hand out homework and the next day the teacher corrects and see's if the students really understood the lesson that the teacher taught.

they can do that during school hours too.

i will assume that this debate is about primary and high school student, not including college.

the problem with schooling nowadays is that they are using a "one size fits all" method to teach all students uniformly. The problem is that every person is different, with different aptitude and different learning speed.

i argue that if children are taught only things that are engaging to them, it will accellerate the process and absorb much more.

also, with proper aptitude test, students can be placed in classes that caters to their intelligence level and interest.

ex: specialization in social science, with accellerated learning..... or specialization in exact sciences, with normal learning, and so on.

What happens if the teacher tells them to do it at home instead of doing at school because maybe the teacher wants to do something else

ok, you are right, but will it be really helpful for he or she in the future. they will remember that material during the really short period of time, to my mind students should spend their afterclasses time for self-study, i'm talking about learning in what they really interested, and it will be really usefull in the future

Side: no

How the hell else are you going to learn? End of Story. Reading

"Should" they? If they know the subject, then no, they shouldn't. If they don't know the subject well like the teacher, and that is mostly likely all the cases with students, the yes, they should have homework.

The answer is dependable. But i would have to say yes for the teacher to know if the student understands or not. Tho, all the students could be cheating off one another. That is when "tests" come in. lol.

from my point of view, there should be a homework after school, because, if today teacher taught them something new, she gives homework for them to consolidate the topic and it will help the student to understand the topic better. that is why, homework is very useful thing.

yes it is...allot of students at home do not bother to open a book..when they have homework they are forced to do it and study thus they are working and sometimes those students are not that smart at school so if there was no homework then they would be a disaster! at least homework makes them learn a small thing about their lesson and according to me i find it better when we have homework bcz it allows us to study at home in an indirect way :D

Have you ever seen kids that have nothing to do? Their parents let them play video games all day or they start getting into trouble out of boredom.

If school is supposed to prepare you for the real world, then of course. Homework teaches time management, one of the most important qualities an adult can have.

I believe that students have to do homework, it`s really necessary. They are not so busy at school, school program not so hard and therefore little bit of hometask will just help to remember and improve their skiils.

I take the view that students should have homework after school, university etc. The explanation for it is that homework gives students practice, practice improves their skills. Without homework students will come home and do nothing useful for and connected with their education, they will just watch TV or play computer games. Then they will return to school and waste their time, because without experience gained through homework they will not be able to obtain knowledge.

yes, certainly, teachers give homework to consolidate the covered material.

I agree, but that doesn't mean that students should have homework after school..Because most of the time students can't concentrate at home, so those who really care about their GPA stay at school and do it there..So I believe that the system should be changed so that there will be a "homework class"

but how you think student will stay after lesson? student at school want only one thing after lesson, go out from school as soon as possible..))

i think that they must do they homework at home, parents must control them.

yes, students should receive homework every night.

yes, students should get homework every night because it helps us study for example when we have a test to study we can get practice. Anyways we still get used to it because we get it every night and it helps us be responsible. It will help us in our future like when we go to high school, collage, or a job we will have to be smart and it will make it easyer for us. That is why we should get HOMEWORK every night.

i think school time should be optimized instead with better learning methods. such as specialization, talent identification and credit systems.

since the goal is to educate, giving homeworks aren't necessarily the best method. Unless of course if the homework is something that the student failed to finish during school hours.

Admitting that school hours aren't enough definitely shows a weakness of the existing education system. Which is more focused on imprisoning educatees until they've absorbed enough learning material due to the lack of any other alternative activities.

I think no, if pupil stays after classes at school and doing some assessments till 5pm, for example. And after, he\she should be absolutely free. Otherwise, i think, person get tired, especially kid. Also, he\she would have opportunity to study in musical, art or another school at the same time. It is more healthy, to give less home work, because children will be more positive about studying. In addition, we should not forget that studying is the hardest type of work, because, as it proved by experiments, brain work takes more energy in compare with physical exercises.

No, students should not get homework! No students should not get homework! First, we get stressed. For example, what about if we get alot of homework from all the classes.

Secound, we might forget our homework. for instance, what about if we get tired from school then forget that we have homework.

Third, we dont get to have time with ou famaly. in oher words, i have to make a good task on my work and i take to much time.

SO PLASE DON'T GIVE US HOMEWORK!!!
