Should teachers reward students for performing well?

Many teachers, in a bid to encourage some students in their class, reward students with sweets, vouchers and other things they would like. But is this the right thing to do, considering the various stakeholders involved in this topic, such as the other students, other teachers and parents?

Positive reinforcement is a highly efficient method for altering behavior patterns. A chocolate for handing in a paper will encourage that damned lazy kid who has all the work in his backpack but can't be bothered to take it out; a trophy for Sung-min for getting 99.3% on that exam, that extra hour studying sure did pay off! I bet Min-soo's parents are kicking themselves in the ass right now - 99.1% bitches! kinda thing is sure to work better than a mildly approving grimace.

They Should be rewarded, this makes students want to study hard for exams and try their hardest in their Homework, knowing that they will be rewarded if they work well

Students shouldn't have to be rewarded for learning, they should be intrinsically motivated to learn. The fact the we need to bribe kids to learn is an indictment of our education system. We have stripped all the appeal of learning by presenting kids with theoretical knowledge that is not directly applicable in the real world.

Yes. A teacher should reward a student who does well by allowing such student to skip the final exam.

Teachers should not reward students, because it will cause students to lose the intrinsic motivation to do well and instead rely on such gifts by teachers. Students will look forward to the rewards during their course of study and when this supply of reward is cut off, it is most likely that the students find no further motivation to excel. Of course, it is also not fair to the other students who have worked equally if not more hard, but do not receive the reward. They will be further discouraged and this leads to a chain of negative impacts on them.

But you are assuming that every reward will be a material. Words of encouragement and exposure to the community can cause the student to become a role model for other students. Such status is obtained as a reward for gaining outstanding accomplishment. This in turn, will motivate other students to work harder. Even in the work place and in society, employees and citizens are rewarded for good behavior in several ways. In teaching these students about rewards and motivating them to excel, we are also creating a more competitive society where competition and rewards are key factors of financial success.

It would imbue them with the mindset that everything they do has to be rewarded.

Growing up and getting a job, where you get payed is not the same thing. A job does not benefit you, it benefits society, and the payment is because both you need it, and you are not allowed to work for free.

While school benefits you thus no reason to be more benefited with in it.

I also think it'll spoil kids early on. They're spoiled enough.
