Should the USPS Terminate Saturday Mail Delivery?

The United States Postal Service has unilaterally decided to eliminate the majority of Saturday Postal Delivery Services.  They will however, continue certain premium deliver services.   They cited that the public was unwilling to pay for increases to continue this service.

Here is the problem:
1. Nobody asked the public what their opinion was on this subject
2. The Post Office wasn’t required to show what other cuts they would make instead of cutting Saturday Delivery
3. There was no trial period suggested to
a.  validate the cost savings
b.  test the public reaction

WELL, HERE IS YOUR CHANCE TO HAVE YOUR VOICE HEARD…

1. Argue if we need Saturday delivery BELOW
2. Show your support for keeping Saturday delivery by signing this PETITION: http://www.createdebate.com/petition/show/Please_support_our_effort_to_keep_USPS_general_mail_delivery_on_Saturdays
3. Argue if the USPS should be privatized in this DEBATE: http://www.createdebate.com/debate/show/Should_the_Postal_Service_be_opened_to_the_privatization

I can do without Saturday mail delivery. It gives me a short delay with paying my bills.

No, many companies and people would like their mail to arrive somewhere in a timely manner. Some things are urgent and this new policy could create potential confusion amongst the general public. Obviously this system has worked fine all this time, why change it now?

They should be able to deliver you mail for 6 days a week the only day they should really terminate is Sunday. So I will be signing this petition!

Saturday delivery isn't just important to the recipient. It's also important to the person delivering the mail. We have enough financial problems in our country. Why take a day off someone's work schedule? Another reason we should keep the Saturday delivery, is because people like to receive their mail promptly. Putting it off the whole weekend will put off bill payments, letters to the military, receiving letters from military people, and so on. Saturday deliveries have been around for years. I'm tired of Obama's whole "out with the old and in with the new" outlook. I'm 100% for keeping the Saturday deliveries!
