We ought to obey God rather than man. -Acts 5:29. Test all things and hold fats to what is good. -1 Thessalonians 5:21.

Fats, eh?

But you can't deny that the bible says to obey the laws of the land, where applicable.

Is there any reason not to obey laws such as those against murder, etc? That's not a purely biblical thing, btw, so don't bother using that for your evidence.

no .... the word of God is set in stone .. we need to go no further than the book .. http://www.gty.org/products/Audio-Series/298_Making-a-Case-for-the-Bible

Although times are changing and making amendments to the Bible seems like the logical solution, the Bible is code on moral behavior basically and I don't think civil rights will really ever change. Besides, the original view on the life by the Bible is served in an intended context in which we can just understand and follow the thematic guidelines served to us.
