CreateDebate is a social debate community built around ideas, discussion and democracy.
If this is your first time checking out a debate, here are some quick tips to help get you started:
Arguments with the highest score are displayed first.
Argument replies (both in favor and in opposition) are displayed below the original argument.
To follow along, you may find it helpful to show and hide the replies displayed below each argument.
To vote for an argument, use these icons:
You have the power to cast exactly one vote (either up or down) for each argument.
Once you vote, the icon will become grayed out and the argument's score will change.
Yes, you can change your vote.
Debate scores, side scores and tag scores are automatically calculated by an algorithm that primarily takes argument scores into account.
All scores are updated in real-time.
To learn more about the CreateDebate scoring system, check out the FAQ.
When you are ready to voice your opinion, use the Add Argument button to create an argument.
If you would like to address an existing argument, use the Support and Dispute link within that argument to create a new reply.
If I may elaborate, these monuments should not be CELEBRATED in the public square. But they’re clearly historical, and as such should be moved to museums where they can be DISPLAYED and STUDIED.
2)I don't particularly like the statues, but one could make a defense for why to get rid of all statues. MLK cheated on his wife. If the feminists go after him, are his statues coming down? Where does it end Con?
Democrats back then were a different thing: they were politically conservative and tended to be very right wing. In terms of political outlooks, the Democrats and Republicans have largely switched places on the spectrum.
I notice you throw around names like Democrats, the klan, liberals, and Grand Dragon. But you don’t use the word racist. That’s because racists have always been racist, and will always be racist no matter what label they’re currently using.
Now, I wouldn’t accuse your party of being racist. But, every racist out there is a member of your party. You really don’t need to look any further than this very website for confirmation.
"These Negroes, they're getting pretty uppity these days and that's a problem for us since they've got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we've got to do something about this, we've got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference... I'll have them n*ggers voting Democratic for the next two hundred years."
Here’s what you miss. Liberals are able to govern pursuant to the Constitution, in spite of their ugly side. Right wingers, on the other hand, govern from their ugly side.
You're avoiding the question/point. Are you anti-Communism? Are you pro capitalism? And if you are, and I am too, then it logically follows for me to not support the modern Democrat Party.
Your problem here is the overwhelming majority of right wingers are anti fascism. It's why you don't see us praising Fascist leaders and regimes like the left does, but demonizing them, to be told how heartless and racist we are. If you want a glorifying of fascist regimes and leaders, look left.
No, we shouldn't take down Confederate statues/monuments/flags because it's a part of our history. Unless, of course, you'd like to fire bomb all national museums in the U.S.
You can't learn from history if you erase it. Same reason the Nazi swastika should never be banned. People need to know what it is and why it is shameful.
It's not, in any way, promoting slavery. If they "had" to come down I would love to see them in a museum but I would prefer they stay up. We shouldn't hide from our past.
