There is a Black history month, Asian pacific American heritage month, Hispanic heritage month and a Womans History month why not add one more?

i like the idea of getting rid of the others instead of creating a new one very very much but going under the assumption that that is not going to happen would you still be opposed to a male Anglo American history month?

Side: yes

As far as I can tell all the established heritage/history months celebrate the talent, culture and history of these different groups or the good things about them not the bad. Why not celebrate the talent, culture and history of Anglo males. Have they never done anything good? Are they devoid of talent, generosity and strife. My son looks white, he has blond hair hazel eyes pale skin but he has Romanian, Native American, polish Irish and English ancestry. He is like most white American males today and for several generations back are they not good people because their white? Anglo Americans have overcome forms of oppression; our Independence for one thing and the fact that all of them have someone somewhere in their families that has over come some kind of personal oppression to become an American.

Side: yes

examples of anglo american men in our hystory worth celebrating.

Thomas Edison

Thomas Edison and his workshop patented 1,093 inventions. Included in this were the phonograph, the incandescent light bulb, and the motion picture. He was the most famous inventor of his time and his inventions had a huge impact on America's growth and history.

Alexander Graham Bell

Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in 1876. This invention allowed communication to extend to individuals. Before the telephone businesses had to rely on the telegraph.

.

Benjamin Franklin

John D. Rockefeller

Henry Ford

Walt Disney

Ben and Jerry

Charles Lindbergh

Babe Ruth

Elvis Presley

Bill Gates

Clint Eastwood

Howard Hughes

Hugh Hefner

Steven Hawking

Ansel Adams

There are sooooo many more I personally would add to this list.

How about getting rid of all months dedicated to any one race ?

Side: No

I can agree to that notion.------------------------------------------

That to me is the epitomy of anti-racism, by dedicating months to other groups of people we seperate them, seems like a throwback to seperate but equal, which clearly can never actually happen.

Considering Anglo American Males are the murders of millions of people and nearly made another race of human being extinct, I think not. I don't care if they created this country, this country is not worth the near loss of an entire culture of people.

Every race throughout history has hated and killed another group of people at one point in time because of one reason or another. Asian, Arab, African, English, Hispanic, Indian, native American etc... I'm not saying Anglo American males haven't done bad things I'm saying that they have done a lot of good things and deserved to be recognized for those things just like the other groups are.

Every race has fought other races, yes, but made one almost extinct? I think not. The atrocities of white men throughout the past haven't been outweighed yet by their better deeds. The entire reason this country has days for every other race of American is because all other race of American except Anglo men has had to fight for some sort of cultural or societal rights, and they succeeded. Anglo men as a specific group of people have never needed to fight or work for such things.

We do it is called "Every other month!" No reason not to celebrate different races and cultures. Those are what make our country great. it is all the other holidays and observances that were dictated by the white man. Besides we have Columbus day! A true Anglo/American. Slaughtered, enslaved and forcably converted native peoples, got booted out of the city that he himself founded and ran, and became rich off the backs of the poor. That does sound like typical, Anglo/American history to me!

He is not an Anglo American. He is from Spain, there is a difference. Perhaps WASP would be a better term to describe the target group than Anglo American.

Martin Luther King Cheated on his wife and was basically a hypocrite to his religion but he is worth celebration because of his bravery and vision. Bye the way he has a "Day" and a "month" as dose Cesar Chavez.

Ah so now we cannot celebrate someone for being human? Although Dr. king was not perfect he did change society. He encouraged reform through non-violence in a time when violence was the norm. He created a revolution that changed our country for the better and did its part to heal the scars of the past!

How was he a hypocrite? Yes he sinned, but don't we all? Screwing up and straying from the path is not a generalization of his entire life and behavior.

Why would we? We have these heritage days/months to see what the people overcame such as an oppression. Male Anglo Americans haven't overcome any oppressions as a group. Black Americans have overcome racism and slavery, Hispanics have overcome their share of racism and unfairness, and women have beat the oppressions of men. What have Male Anglo Americans overcome? I'd just like to know. Because I can't think of anything.

The point of having months dedicated to minorities is that every month, history or heritage wise, is dedicated to white males; at least the vast, vast majority of every month is.

For real? You really don't know?

Nearly every historical figure focused on in schools is a white male. Why should there be a month dedicated specifically to this when it is nearly the whole of it to start with?

Side: No

No more should there be an Anglo Heritage Month than a Black History Month. It is ridiculous to dedicate an entire month to something so discriminatory while, at the same time, pushing an agenda of equality.
