Yes

VS.

No

Side Score: 10

Otherwise everybody would glue to their Tv sets and see the outcome of an election where's there's been no turnout, being a civilian of a nation,it becomes a prerequisite to cast your votes in an election, especially that of a president.Secondly, just like anybody else you've to make your opinion known

This is a free country not a dictatorship. Do you not support freedom?

Side: No

Definitely not. The last thing we need is more uninformed voters influencing the elections. Leave it to the people who actually care enough to educate themselves on the issues to do the voting.

The founders restricted voting rights to the tax payers for very specific and valid reasons, which remain true today.

Except they didn't restrict it to tax payers, they restricted it to White Caucasian Property Owners.

Revisionist history and oversimplifications are not the way to go, my friend.

woops hit the report by accident sorry.

Revisionist history its Not my friend. Its the facts. And its also a fact that the founders knew quite well the perils of an uninformed electorate. As well as the perils of voting yourself free money. Our nation was not founded by Latinos, Asians, Africans, or Eskimos. It just happened to be predominately British. Sooooooo

Abdicating your right to vote could be considered a form of protest, so such a law would be considered oppressive.

Side: No

No. The government does not have the right to force people to vote. I plan on voting though, but only because I want to.

Side: No

Mandatory voting might encourage a few more people to pay attention to politics than do now, but on balance would result in a lot more people that don't pay attention to politics voting in ignorance - not the best idea.

Though it should probably be easier for those who do want to vote in many states - see an alternative idea here

No, this is America we are supposed to be free. I know we really are not, but voting should not be forced.

Side: No

Voting is a privilege, therefore, voting in any election should not be mandatory.
