Argument replies (both in favor and in opposition) are displayed below the original argument.
To follow along, you may find it helpful to show and hide the replies displayed below each argument.
To vote for an argument, use these icons:
You have the power to cast exactly one vote (either up or down) for each argument.
Once you vote, the icon will become grayed out and the argument's score will change.

I can respect people without getting down on one knee.
I will 'take the knee' in a Roman Catholic Church to show my respect for the Lord Almighty but not for another human being, regardless of colour or title, i.e., King or Queen.
Anyone who looks outside themselves for value is incapable of thoroughgoing respect. Your 'respect' will always be borne through proxy, indirect and superficial.
Anyone who looks outside themselves for value is incapable of thoroughgoing respect.
What a stupid thing to say. We all look outside ourselves for value and the problem with working to achieve the opposite is that we aren't the most impartial judges when it comes to our own character.
For example, we might not see the hypocrisy of say, lecturing somebody for having alt accounts while we also have alt accounts ourselves.
What a stupid thing to say. We all look outside ourselves for value [...]
Speak for yourself. Personally, I don't. It doesn't make any sense to do so. Value is a subjective construct, and the next guy's values aren't any better than mine. From my perspective, they're necessarily lesser. Certainly, I'm not going to look to some fictitious deity over myself like op.
[...] and the problem with working to achieve the opposite is that we aren't the most impartial judges when it comes to our own character.
There is no problem with being partial to ourselves in evaluating our character. Why should there be? The only way you arrive at that conclusion is... wait for it... by looking outside yourself for your own value. No need.
For example, we might not see the hypocrisy of say, lecturing somebody for having alt accounts while we also have alt accounts ourselves.
Weak minded people are not prepared to question the humiliating practice of getting down on their knees to show subservience to a figment of their imagination.
Let those who do not wish to get down on their knees develop a backbone to display their respect for themselves. No gods, no masters.
How do you reconcile agreeing with Kaepernick and loving your country?
Hello Jace:
The FIRST thing I love about my country are the rights granted to us in the Constitution.. I thought right wingers loved the Constitution... No, huh?
Here's how the 1st Amendment reads: "Congress shall make NO LAW respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech.."
See the part where it says we have freedom of speech? And please note that it says congress shall make NO LAW abridging that freedom..
The FIRST thing I love about my country are the rights granted to us in the Constitution.
The whole point of the knee in this case is that the rights are not granted (equally) to everyone by that Constitution. The very right to life is not protected. So, I see you reconcile the inconsistency by ignoring it...
I thought right wingers loved the Constitution... No, huh?
Dunno, you'd have to ask one.

Yes, I'm familiar with the language. And a modest familiarity with history would inform you that this 'right' has been consistently overridden by state interest, and particularly so for marginalized people. The most recent protests being an acute demonstration; peaceful protest was criminalized and violently repressed by a federal occupation of local municipalities and the use of chemical weapons (among other weapons).
See the part where it says we have freedom of speech? And please note that it says congress shall make NO LAW abridging that freedom.. What part of that don't you understand?
Not familiar with the alien and sedition acts, insurrection act, etc. I guess. Can't say I'm surprised. Just because a piece of paper says you've got a right doesn't mean you actually have it. If they told you you're a billionaire I bet you'd believe that too. Roflmao; don't be so naive.

A great defense of the Trump rally you just made there. Good points.

Aren't the Democrats trying to keep people from going to church?

Like, oh...being able to voice dissent on facebook, twitter or youtube without being banned or censored that you seem perfectly comfortable with because you can't grasp that once you are no longer useful, you're next, and no kneeling will be tolerated?
I thought right wingers loved the Constitution...No, huh?
Well, we do, but we don't tend to use it as a noose around our own necks concerning people who are not dealing with anyone decent or normal in good faith, lie about what it says, and then claim it was written by racist slave owners who need to have their statues and memories destroyed. We assume that if you trash them, you think their Constitution is trash, just like them. And you do think that until you perceive that referencing it might help you in a particular instance for political expediency. The rest of the time you feign outrage and use it as toilet paper.
Like, oh...being able to voice dissent on facebook, twitter or youtube without being banned or censored
That's funny because I've never had a problem voicing dissent on Facebook. I've also never heard blind worship of an openly fascist president termed as "dissent" before. I think you're confusing dissent with Nazism.
That's funny because I've never had a problem voicing dissent on Facebook.
I would explain to you why leftist sites don't censor leftists, but it would wizz over your helmet.
I've also never heard blind worship of an openly fascist president termed as "dissent" before.
Awesome. Trump passed Prison Reform, which destroyed legislation that was systematically oppressing blacks. Joe Biden, Obama's second hand man, passed anti black bussing laws... You support the guy who passed anti black bussing laws. I support the man who let them free.
I think you're confusing dissent with Nazism. You defend the former, which makes sense, seeing you agree with Hitler on racism towards Jews. You probably agree with him on other races as well.
Yup, I just checked and you definitely are.
It's cute how you think old ladies singing "Jesus Loves Me" are Nazis and not the leftists having moms arrested for going to the park with their kid.
I would explain to you why leftist sites don't censor leftists
I would never dream of explaining to you that it's because the leftists are the ones doing the dissenting, and the right wing are called the right wing because they are anti-progressive pro-corporate traditionalists who want to see wealth concentrated in the hands of the few for the rest of all eternity.
I wouldn't explain that to you because I know that you're stupid. So stupid in fact that you don't know the difference between a "left wing site" and people who just don't dig Nazi propaganda from the 1930s.
WHY??? Cause I AGREE with him, and I love my country..
Well, loving only people who bend the knee to the leftist, draconian state isn't really "loving your country. It's loving the anti American concepts of people who hate your country.
What? Don't YOU bend your knee when the KKK marches by?
I've rarely seen overtly racist Conservatives, but when I have, they turned out to be Obama voters who attended Occupy Wallstreet, or Jussie Smollett's imaginary white supremacists that exist so much that leftists have to fake their existence through fake attacks...
Oh, and this crap too while you're busy spinning yarns and focusing on the nonexistent right that CNN told you actually exists that the real right has never seen or met....
The racist right wing exists so much that the KKK is endorsing the left because the right "isn't racist enough", and only Donald Trump can pass prison reform. Isn't that a daisy?...
Weak minded people are not prepared to question the humiliating practice of getting down on one to show solidarity with blacks who, quite rightly are deeply aggrieved at so many of their number being killed by police officers.
Let those who do not wish to get down on one knee develop a sign of their own to display their respect for the feelings of their black brothers.
ROFLMAO black people do not own taking the knee and white people do not need symbolic gestures specific to their race. Even for a white supremacist, this is taking 'separate but equal' beyond the point of stupidity.
A strong minded person does not draw upon narratives outside of themselves (i.e. race) in order to justify their worth. Their strength is their own and their worth is inherent to them; consequently, they cannot know humiliation. Your concern here is trivial and a mark of weakness itself.
It's disappointing, but also amusing to note that the benighted twits on this site have failed miserably in being able to express their opinion on the subject matter.
Instead they have slavishly gone down their predictable route of engaging in personal attacks on the debate creator and each other, two of whom are one of the same.
It is such a pitiful state that there are so few left on CD with the desire or ability to debate rationally and objectively but, just as pigs enjoy rolling around in their own shit so the low-lives on here can only get their kicks by wallowing in the intellectual gutter preoccupied with their burning desire of trying to degrade each other.
