Should we or should we not have homework for elementary school children

There are many school activities to do such as band, sports, art;or etc.but Its not cool we u do the activities then come home doing homework or being late because of homework there are 7 hours students are with or around teachers and we all know that spending more time with your teachers than family is really but there are a lot we could do during school periods that's my debate.

1. That's a really long sentence.

2. You have all summer to spend with your family; don't give me that baloney.

3. Homework is for the good of you children, not as a punishment.

4. In my opinion, homework should start in 5th grade in order to prepare for middle school.

Well is kinda good to start home in Kinder but just to say is just to make kids used to do it

Homework should be made more flexible, allowing students to work on their interest rather than just pushing them to do things they might not like. This way, we can actually build skills during summer vacation rather than doing homework just for the hell of it.

Homework is for losers. Get some vodka, pour it in an Aquafina bottle, and snarf it down as no one knows the difference. Screw school. Go find some hot chicks.

I believe children should have homework, when there after school activities are more flexible. I say this because some parents tend to overload their children with extra curriculum activities to help keep their kids busy, and I sometimes don't think that is fair; Children should spend more time studying or researching the grade level the child is on; Now if the child likes to be over work or just think better under pressure, then yes elementary schools should have homework after school. A reason why I think that children may NOT have homework, is because instead of doing homework kids can just do In-Class Assignments with their class mates to get different opinions on the lesson and the kids can also just the study the notes that thy learn from each other; and if that method is being used then once 3:45p.m hits the kids can spend more time thinking about the task at home whatever that maybe and be successful at it as well....

I read a study once that showed that the more homework a child gets, the more likely they are to suffer from depression.

Homework is given for the benefit of the children. It gives them problems and questions to practice so that they can grasp the concept of what they're learning. Most people are just cry babies because people nowadays don't like doing work. Get over it.

There are both pro and cons of having homework. Some pro's are:

- Increases memory & academic levels

- Homework gives parents an opportunity to see what their children are learning in school

- Students learn responsibilities on an educational level

- Teaches students how to work individually

- Homework teaches students the importance of planning, staying organized and taking action.

While there are some cons:

- If too much homework is received, the student can suffer from depression

- Sometimes doesn't improve school activities

- Time could be used to relax or do chores

- Reduces family time

- Too much homework encourages the technique of copying

- Sometimes teachers don't have time to grade all of the papers

As you can see there are many pros and cons. I think students should receive a minimum amount of homework. For example, that student could have 5 teachers and each of their homework is a 1 hour long packet. That reduces the time of sleep, family, and chores. This causes depression and lack of school participation. The technique cheating is then encouraged. If the homework was reduced to 25-30 minutes each teacher, the chances of this is reduced, but not by a lot.

I say we should continue having homework in elementary school, because I know from my own life that if I'm being taught something and I get about 1-2days if homework on that subject, I would have to myself mastered it. That to me is like a cheat because me personally myself I don't know how to study but that's like studying for me. On the other hand if we don't get home I already know that if I'm being taught something in class.. (Something like this just happened for me yesterday with some homework) if I'm taught Something new and say I don't get homework on it that night for me to "study on it" say we go over it in class the next day I nine times out of ten will not remember what was taught the previous day! But I have remember that everyone's body and mindset doesn't work like mine but I know there's someone out there who gets where I'm coming from. In conclusion I say we continue to have homework in Elementary school!

I believe that homework should be issued to students daily because it is a follow up of what you've learned In class. It gives the opportunity for parents to know what their child is learning about in school. It increases your memory on what you've learned. It helps your child develop positive study skills and habits that will serve him or her well throughout life Homework encourages your child to use time wisely. It teaches your child to work independently. Homework teaches your child to take responsibility for his or her work. It allows your child to review and practice what has been covered in class. It helps your child to get ready for the next day’s class.

Yes, we should because homework, although it may be stressful and sometimes complicated, keeps adolescents off the streets and in their homes. It occupies children from doing things that wouldn't be such good choices if they did not have homework. With that being said, I do feel that children should be given some leadway. Teenagers like me aren't going to always do our homework lets be honest, but it doesn't make it any easier on us if we have two diffrent projects due on the same day and have to do a boatload of homework as well. Homework is needed, but teachers should be more organized with their colleagues.

1 point

I believe that we should have homework in elementary school because some students need the homework for a study guided to pratice on what they learned in class. When students have homework it tends to make them more confident when they take test, assessments, and pop quizzes. But I do believe that we should be given a maximum of 30 min for each class. Also I believe that we should not have it everyday we should just be given a packet with all our homework for a week for every class given to us on Monday and have a page every other day.

should we or should we not have homework for elementary school children?

I think the assignment of homework should continue just to keep our brains refreshed because a lot of kids forget things real soon. It also helps gain and retain more knowledge cause sometimes teachers are not sufficient according to some students

Homework can help you become a better student in several different ways. First of all, homework given in advance of a particular subject can help you make the most of your classroom discussion time. Homework also gives you valuable practice with what you've learned in the classroom. Often, the brief period of time you have during class to learn something new is simply not enough. Repeating classroom concepts at home helps to cement in your mind the things you learned.

1 point

we do need to keep homework for our benefit because it helps people study and gives us an extra grade like if your doing bad also it is a way to help you understand what your doing in the classroom this is why i know we need to keep homework.

1 point

I believe we should have homework for elementary school students because it's important , it's a possibility that it can better education and when u learn something new , homework is considered practice for tests and assignments so that you can get better in the subject and if you have problems you can ask questions about it.

NO!! We should not have howework for elementary school kids. Reason being, is the students should be taught everything they need to know in class. Having the technology here now, students have everything at arms reach to be able to push themselves to go out and learn more. They should be responsible enough to know that there is more that meets the eye when it comes to learning. Teaches really teach the basics of everything, and we can use he internet to enhance what they have taught us. We don't need homework to help us for school.

1 point

I really feel tied between these two. but the one that is pulling me the most is that we shouldn't, because for one it is very stressful when 5 or 6 classes give you homework each night and you have to stay up late and not get enough sleep to be ready for the next learning day. I'm very compelled to do my homework because i want to just simply pass my classes, but i feel it should be optional, it would cut down on the stress of meeting the unrealistic expectation of "intelligence" which is passing your classes or even just knowing what you are "supposed to do". it is a hoax to make us do the same things every night over and over again. i have read an article which is stating (" For opponents, homework gives less or no benefit when it comes to motivating students to improve performance in school. They oppose what proponents are saying that there is a positive correlation between homework and how students perform in school for the reason that not all students have equal levels of intelligence. What might be helpful and easy for students who are good in a certain subject might be useless and difficult to students who have different levels of intelligence.).via http://connectusfund.org/list-of-10-big-pros-and-cons-of-homework

I think we should have homework for elementary schools , because the work that we are learning In school is important . We need to have homework for extra practice if we have a test or pop up quizzes , we should know everything we've learned by studying it for homework . Elementary children should also have homework so that they aren't always focusing on using technology and they should be focusing on their school work to pass they classes , get good grades so they can go to the next grade . If elementary schools don't have homework , it will be hard for the children to comprehend for what they're learning in school . Some elementary schools usually have homework on certain days...they should have homework everyday , they should be studying every night . Homework will help kids understand that it is important to do it . I think we should all have homework every night for good reasons not just for punishments but to keep getting extra credit for their grades .

1 point

No We should not have homework. Homework is not necessary for children to do because everything should be done at school. Its not fun to do it at home so we can all have to focus at our house instead of relaxing after six hours of school. How do you know that we dont have anything important to do at home? Im not saying dont give us work, Im just saying that dont pile us up with work that we dont have time to relax. I think it would be easier on school children to do all work in school and relax at home and eventually go to sleep.

I think middle school kids should have homework because it keeps our minds on learning than things that are not important like our phones and social media. I also believe we should have homework because it helps us memorize the lessons we learn each day and keeps our minds interactive. Others might disagree with my opinion because they think homework is a waste of time and they could be doing things they are interested in other than sitting down and frustrating over homework.

1 point

Yes, we should have homework because it follows up what students learned in class and so the students can memorize what they learned. Even though children get tired of doing homework everyday and sometimes get stressful it for their own good. There may be some day where student forget to do their homework or just don't do it homework should be give at least 3 times oh the week.

I think we should have hw ... I say we should have homework because It improves your child’s thinking and memory. It helps your child develop positive study skills and habits that will serve him or her well throughout life.

Homework encourages your child to use time wisely. It teaches your child to work independently. The reason I say this is because. It allows your child to extend learning by applying skills to new situations. It helps your child integrate learning by applying many different skills to a single task, such as book reports or science projects.Homework helps parents learn more about what your child is learning in school. It allows parents to communicate about what he or she is learning. It encourages parents to spark your child’s enthusiasm. I think people may disagree they might not have the time . Or they might not like hw . Maybe the think it's too much work in one day when you are in class and don't feel like doing homework.

I think we should have hw because it's just help kids learn more . It can bring up your grade of u do it right and it is extra knowledge. And this why I think we should have homework .

If it was really up to me I would say no homework, because people like to do other things than just sit at home and do work all over again after a long day at school. Then behind that children still have chores to do such as clean dishes or any thing else to keep the house clean. Also they might have a sports game or something they like to do or want to do. Then there is the last excuse which is when teenagers get sleepy, but even when we get a good night sleep somehow we end up still sleeping in class and the only thing we are thinking about by far is going to bed.

1 point

I believe that we should have homework because homework helps you study. Also I believe if we have homework we should not have alot of homework every night. Homework also helps me study even when I don't want to when a test is coming up. I just retain the information from what I learned from the previous night's homework.

1 point

I think we shouldn't have homework because we already have a rough day at school. Also, because people have stuff to do after school like basketball practice and other things like that. It is already 7-8 hours of school you should learn enough.

1 point

Yes we should have homework even thoe it is very stressful,we should still have it.We should have homework because it help us understand what we are doing and how to do the assignment.Homework is practice for the assignment. So yes we should have homework

1 point

Yes, we should have homework for elementary schools children because it keeps children minds on learning and doing good in school and not about the things that are not important. For example, cell phones. Elementary school children need homework because it gives them time to interact with their parents.

1 point

Well, when you ask me this question I feel as if we (elementary school children) should have homework. I say this because homework is a way to get extra practice on a topic that you just learned in class. Homework is very important because when you actually think about it, it's one way to help your grade. Now I know some people may say " we shouldn't have home because it's useless and it's not like we should be doing work outside of school" but in actuality homework helps all these people who disagree with homework. When I get homework I sometimes feel as if I don't need it, or I get an attitude but when I do it and it actually does me justice. It's actually helps me out more than what I expect it to do. So when you ask me " Should we or should we not have homework for elementary school children" I say YES!!

Homework is very advantageous for students. It helps them to reinforce the concepts that they learn in the

class. Homework allows students to apply the ideas learnt in real life situations. it also help in increasing the understanding of the subject which makes exam preparation easy for them. It teaches students discipline as they have to make a fixed schedule in which they have to spare time for homework. It even allows students to gather their doubts in a particular topic which they can get cleared from the teacher later on. Homework helps students in self assessing themselves and improve in the areas which require a bit of fine tuning or polishing.

I believe that we should have homework for elementary school children, but we should definitely keep the homework to a minimum. We should have a system where certain classes have their own day to give out homework. For example, math may get Mondays, science may get Tuesdays and etc. We shouldn't have homework and homework piled onto us each and everyday.

First, students may have after school activities including sports or arts and crafts or something of that nature. It definitely isn't easy for us to balance out these kinds of things, and this is coming from someone who is still in school. Our mind isn't built to focus and balance out about 10 things that have to do with school, it can't even handle two at times. Everyone isn't created the same exact way, you may have some students who are able to get all of their work done in time, but then there are others who aren't able to. Don't compare those students because the students who don't complete all of their work may have problems at home that are conflicting with their ability to do any sort of work.

And yes, all of that work that is given out will go over with what you have learned in class for that day. And it will definitely help you prepare for any upcoming tests and exams by refreshing your memory. But if you're required to cram all of that information in one day then you won't be able to remember anything for your tests and exams because there will be so much that's circling your mind.

As I have said before, I believe students should have homework but we shouldn't be given so much all in one day. This also goes for projects as well. Having three or four projects all due and assigned around the same time, plus the homework that is already given to us is too much for students.

1 point

I think that we shouldn't because homework can add pressure to a child's life and he or she could do something to hurt them selfs for example I have homework and every time I get a bad grade for it I want to kill my self but i don't but I should

1 point

We dont spend alot of time with are family which make kid behavior bad also homework doesn't work because some people dont do it

1 point

i think that students should have homework because sometimes students don't tend to understand everything that is being taught in the classroom also sometimes the child might need help but won't ask for help because they are scared of what other students might say, So by doing homework you might be able to have someone help you with it for a better understanding. Personally I don't really like homework but i know it gives me a better understanding of what it is I am supposed to do. There are times where I think we shouldn't have homework because we might have already learned it and its not challenging enough. I think if we do have homework we should have less of it, I am in between having homework and not having homework.

1 point

I believe that students shouldn't have homework. This is because it prepares us for the next day of class. Homework keeps us up to date and it's important.

1 point

I think we should have homework because you can do better on test . It gets you ready for important tests . I think we should get homework everyday because you can learn new things everyday & homework helps you gain and retain more knowledge than would be possible with only classroom work . Homework teaches lessons beyond just whats taught in the classroom too.

1 point

I say NO elementary schools shouldn't give out homework because seven hours of school should be enough to learn anything i mean sure, we have recess and lunch there’s still a good six hours where you’re studying if you can’t learn what you need in that time, there’s a problem rather than giving you lots of homework after school to recoup , schools should look at how they can rework teaching systems in class to make the most of the time you have in school so i say no to elementary school students having homework.

1 point

I believe that elementary school should continue the process of sending home work for student. Students process the work better I believe when it is sent home because there is less pressure so the student will understand more.

When students are in the classroom some are pressed to understand the work the first time it is taught. Which makes it even harder to understand because students feel if they don't get it there stupid. When kids are at home they don't feel as much pressure to get the right answer. So yes homework should be sent in elementary schools
