Should we outlaw cars and give the roads to the bicyclists?

Yes, cars should be outlawed, but first public transportation should be improved. I agree that is not practical to bike from Connecticut to New York but it is practical to bike or walk to a train or bus station in your neighborhood and ride that to New York.

Yes, I know. Everything is set up right now for gas powered vehicles. I know it would be hard at first. But, think of how much money we will save, how much more independent we would have, how much healthier we would be. If anything, think of how hot our women would be. (this obviously coming from an American)

Yes, with exceptions such as ambulances, a trip to the ER, etc.

This is not practical due to the need of many people to travel further then they could realistically ride a bicycle. If you live in Connecticut but need to get to NYC for work everyday it is completely impractical to drive there. I do think it's a pretty good idea, but due to it's impracticality I'm going to have to say, "Try again, smart guy".

While in theory it would be wonderful, it wouldn't work in practice, due to points Time2Golf has already stated.

Maybe instead of giving the roads to cyclists, we give them to trains or busses. That would solve a lot of traffic problems, and be better for the environment.

Yeah I agree it is impractical, but also because the lobbyists in Detroit would not allow it.. and the government would never let the car companies go out of business... no matter how much damage to the environment were are doing.

Yes, but we should rid of all technology. We become weaker and weaker as a race with all these aids. When we take medicines our bodies stop producing the necessary antibodies and we become dependent. Inhalers make people w/ asthma acceptable mates and thus we pass on these and other ailments making our species weaker w/ each generation. Cars/internet/any sort of 'convience' only makes us lazier.

Of course, this is human nature and therefore my argument is pointless. Boy do I love tangents ;)

I agree that a lot of the inventions our society has come up with are detrimental, but not all of them. Biking doesn't make people more lazy, it makes them faster. In fact, whenever I bike somewhere, I tend to work a lot harder than I normally do walking because I like going fast.

Yeah, you're definitely right, but if one were to take my stance then biking would never have existed. The most supreme natural being (without tools of any sort) would survive and produce. However, that is completely disregarding the human brain which is really the most valuable and the reason all these inventions have come about regardless of the said reprucussions. It is evident that brains, as opposed to braun has increasingly more influence in selecting mates nowadays.

Really, I agree w/ you, but I don't think there are any other questions where I could make such a tangent as this.

Now that I got my whole (really pointless) argument out of the way, I'll say that we would be better off with bikes on the road, but it would be increasingly difficult to make longer treks. For instance, my brother works about 30 miles away from his home and it would be impossible for him to make the commute on a bike. So it would be better in some ways, but extremely inefficient and impractical when taking into account the distances many people travel today.

HOWEVER lol, if this were implemented maybe this would benefit local economies by keeping jobs closer to home...there are many, many other factors involved. I don't think it would be possible to implement. =)
