Should we redistribute points here on CD

Joe_Cavalry has way too many points.  More points than he knows what to do with and more points than anyone should be allowed to have.  We should take his points and redistribute them to level the playing field.  Give the points to people who haven't participated for months (presumably because they were intimidated by how far behind they were and thus gave up).  Give the points to the needy (people who can't debate themselves out of a paper bag).  It would be like a capital gains, cd points,  tax.

Joe thinks he is clever and that this is an analogy to what he perceives as wealth redistribution in government.

And like in government, CD never has and is never going to "redistribute wealth" or points.

He has stumbled upon completely by accident though an analogy that actually works.

Pretend that CD is government, and points are money as Joe's analogy goes. Except that we all have to give back a certain percentage of our points (taxes) in order to keep CD running. That is a better analogy.

So, say CD can't run without points. It would stand to reason then, that those who are reaping the most benefits should contribute more to keep CD running

Let's say that CD needs a minimum 10000 points a month to keep kids in schools and cops on the street. This is beneficial to everyone on CD because if kids don't go to school they'll never learn to type. And without cops everyone's computer will be stolen.

Right now CD is only taking in 9000 points a month, that means each month that passes they owe China another 1000 points plus interest on those points owed. In order to fix this CD proposes a 2% point hike for the top 1% point earners - those who use CD the most, those who reap the most benefit from CD. This we know from the 90's when CD had a balanced point system will ensure we have a balanced point budget.

That sounds pretty fair to me. After all, 2% of Joe and Terminator's points per month isn't really going to effect their daily lives in the least, and it will ensure all the school kids grow up smart enough to contribute to the CD point system someday, and it ensures our computers aren't stolen.

In fact as with what happened in the 90's, this small point hike strengthens the middle classes, making for a more vibrant CD economy because more people can buy computers, type, and earn points. This actually gives Terminator and Joe more reason to post, thus they actually make more points shortly following this modest point tax - just like in the 90's.

After a few years of this (again like in the 90's) we have a balanced point system and are no longer paying interest on points to China.

Joe and many others apparently have the mind of a child. It is difficult to understand concepts like this when one only thinks in two word slogans like "wealth redistribution" "death panel" etc.

We shall ignore this for the purpose of debate.

Yes, and those who argue the most or who have found clever ways of exploiting the point system (I. E. nonsense debates) will also contribute a percentage, which will amount to more than most other people will contribute.

So, say CD can't run without points. It would stand to reason then, that those who are reaping the most benefits should contribute more to keep CD running

Why? What are they getting that others aren't?

Right now CD is only taking in 9000 points a month, that means each month that passes they owe China another 1000 points plus interest on those points owed.

CD should scale back on its military spending.

In order to fix this CD proposes a 2% point hike for the top 1% point earners - those who use CD the most, those who reap the most benefit from CD.

That benefit is, presumably, measured in points. What extra benefit are they getting if their points are stolen simply because they are earning them?

That sounds pretty fair to me.

You with 1/6 of JC's points. Of course it sounds fair to you.

After all, 2% of Joe and Terminator's points per month isn't really going to effect their daily lives in the least

How do you know that? Would 2% of your points affect your lifestyle?

and it will ensure all the school kids grow up smart enough to contribute to the CD point system someday, and it ensures our computers aren't stolen.

Education and policing are not the only things CD spends its points on. Perhaps CD should not have recapitalised so many degenerate corporations?

In fact as with what happened in the 90's, this small point hike strengthens the middle classes, making for a more vibrant CD economy because more people can buy computers, type, and earn points.

Vibrant until CD squanders it all and then blames its users... again.

This actually gives Terminator and Joe more reason to post, thus they actually make more points shortly following this modest point tax - just like in the 90's.

More post = more points. That's the principal here is it not? So I post more, thus I must be taxed more? You seem to forget that if people like Joe and TERMINATOR left, CD would wither and die. I can't think of another debate site so I'll just drop the metaphor here: Microsoft is no use to America if it has moved to China.

After a few years of this (again like in the 90's) we have a balanced point system and are no longer paying interest on points to China.

You underestimate the scale of the interest payments. You are also misplacing the blame for Government borrowing.

Joe and many others apparently have the mind of a child.

Explaining why they have more points than you do.

It is difficult to understand concepts like this when one only thinks in two word slogans like "wealth redistribution" "death panel" etc.

How about "Keep your proletariat hands away from my points"?

"Except that we all have to give back a certain percentage of our points (taxes)"

Wrong again, just under 50% get back more than they pay in and there in lies the problem.

Also, the top 10% pay 80% of those said points (taxes) which is fine for school and cops but what about paying ACORN and funding union pensions that lost money or bailing out a car company that should be out of business. The top 10% would be thrilled with only paying for cops and school but the elite still determine they should pay more and will always find more to spend using schools and cops as an excuse over and over again. Go JOE

You make an excellent point. I could not have said it better myself. You get an up vote. You earned it ;)

Side: Wait..., what, no!

A person's position on any given topic is mostly based on where they happen to be at that particular point in time. For example, if we had Death Panels and you were next in line, you would be against them.... and I would be all for them ;)

The point is death panels were made up to demonize Obama. They never existed. They never were going to exist. It was made, like Santa Clause, like wealth redistribution. Some people are dumb enough to fall for it (you) some of us aren't (me).
