For one they are going to die anyway so they should at least do something good to society and help out.

For two animals shouldn't be treated has kids or anything less unless they are still kids/puppies.

Godwions law fallacy. She said nothing about genocide or Jews,

If the crime is horribly bad and they are definitely guilty, then why not? They have obviously shown complete disregard for other humans; so why should they still be treated as humans?

Side: Yes

Note:

When I say "horribly bad" crimes, I mean tough stuff like child molestation and mass murder. If the crime is something simple like robbery or perhaps a single murder, regular punishment is enough.

I see the same view as you. I just want the punishment to fit the crime.

This is similar to donating organs/blood transfusions.

The person should volunteer to be tested in place of the animal; they should definitely NOT be forced to. That's just wrong. Criminals have rights too, you know. They're still humans, no matter how big their crime is. I sure hope there are people out there with hearts kind enough to sacrifice themselves for animals...

Side: Yes

Yes we should put stick in their butt and say lol ha, you are dead. ~

Setting aside whether persons sentenced to death deserve to be protected from involuntary testing, crossing the boundary into involuntary human testing with any population is inadvisable. It creates a dangerous precedence of exception to an absolute rule, and it does so within an imperfect legal system. The potential of extended abuse beyond this particular context far outweighs the benefits of testing on death row inmates.

As a side-note, I find it curious that the author of this debate proposes to test only on death row inmates and not the prison population generally.

Then they should not do the crime if they didn't want to the punishment.

What are you talking about? They didn't know that you were going to torture them when they thought about commiting the crime.

Don't catch your chickens before they hatch! Revenge is a dish best served cold! He aint heavy he's my brother!

Their punishment is not supposed to be non-consensual chemical torture.

Women getting pregnant and giving birth is natural... If you don't like it so much take it up with God. A woman being impregnated and forced to go through labor with her legs bound together just to see what would happen... Not natural.

Whilst it is tempting to argue that some of the scumbags in prisons should be the subject of experiments, it is a measure of how we are as a civilisation that we do not do such things. If we truly value human life and are better than some of the nations that would practise such things, we'll refrain from testing on prisoners.

Side: No

Why? Their test scores don't matter if they're going to get executed. ;)

Side: No

I don't think people on death row should be subjected to any kind of testing.
