Should you live life by acheiving small, easy to reach goals or aim for the stars?

Some say short, easy, day to day goals are the key to happiness. Others say aiming for the impossible gives you the inspiration to go further. What do you think?

If aiming for wild goals ever worked, then we wouldn't have thousands of former highschool football players bagging people's groceries.

This isn't to say that looking at the big picture isn't a good idea, but you can't be an oblivious fool about it. I'm speaking from the assumption that this is about achieving happiness, not just going through everyday life.

I've always lived my life by setting goals and doing whatever it takes to acheive them. Since I'm in the aviation field, I want to buy a fleet of seaplanes and open up a tour business in the Caribbean or off the coast of Portugal ;) Some friends say that it's unrealistic and that I face disappointment and that short, easy to reach goals are the key to happiness. But I say if you aim too low, you won't go anywhere and just be an average Joe. I say true happiness is when you acheive what people think is impossible.
