So how did 8 years of a Liberal President work out? Have any of our problems been fixed?

same sex marriage! waves a rainbow banner anyhow, no single person will fix all of our problems, but with a liberal president in the office, we stand a better chance of fixing some of our problems, as opposed to a conservative president who would just let the rich do whatever they want without paying any taxes or worrying about the environment. Well, he did this. http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/ And who knows what would have happened under Romney and McCain but considering the utter failures of trickle down economics as well as their unwillingness to do a financial package during the recession we'd be looking at a fully collapsed economy by now instead. Hey, look, I don't like everything Obama has said or done, and I'll admit I too was against the big bailout package, but it's utterly partisan and unfair to claim not a single good thing ever came out of his Presidency. And what you miss out on when you put the blinders on and post nonstop slanted conservative rhetoric, is any opportunity to persuade people genuinely in the middle and willing to be fair about these discussions. And quite frankly, if you could learn to talk strategically instead of with venom and smear, you and Trump might actually be standing a greater likelihood next week of winning this election. But instead, despite all the baggage of Clinton, she's still going to take you and Trump down. Nice work. You refuse to look at ANY FACTS that are not "suggested to you" by right wing propaganda, and you really SUCK THAT UP! The reason we have had a slow recovery is the OBSTRUCTION to do anything about it by the DO NOTHING CONGRESS! They OBVIOUSLY have not had TOTAL success because, though YOU can't see it, things are MUCH BETTER than Dubya left it! I, frankly, wouldn't care if they found Hillary to be a serial killer (which SOME are saying is true), she COULD NOT KILL AS MANY AS TRUMP with his control of nuclear war! I WILL STILL VOTE FOR HER over Trump! Fact checkers find that Hillary "lies" about 25% (give or take) of the time. They also find that Trump "lies" in the high 70's! I am not known for quoting the Bible much, but, for those voting for Trump it (allegedly) says: "Forgive them , father, they know NOT what they do." I'm sorry but the majority of those 8 years especially most recently, have been hampered by a Republican Senate. It's hilarious that people actually think Obama is the most powerful person in the country. The Prime Minister here in Canada has more control over my country than Obama does the U.S.. The president is essentially powerless without control of the other areas of government and at this point Obama is more of a diplomat than anything. Also how can you especially blame Obama for gun control laws when again, the majority Republican Senate has voted against almost every measure he's attempted to implement, even increased background checks, which everyone outside of the U.S. sees as ridiculous. There's a reason the rest of the 1st world looks down on the U.S., and has for decades. 1

anyone can cherry pick numbers that mean NOTHING My comment is cherry-picking, but "fatherless children" isn't? What exactly do you want big government to do to force daddy to stay with mommy? Our nation is going bankrupt. No, it isn't. As I already said - the deficit is down (below 2003 and 2004 levels). The way we will know our debt is too large is when the interest rate we pay on treasuries goes up - instead it is at historic lows. If you want less debt - have fewer wars. assinations of police officers Police are safer under Obama ref Our babies are being killed all the way up to birth! Again, teen pregnancy and abortions are down. More than 90% of abortions happen in the first trimester. Why don't you try finding examples of the 30+ week abortions that happen which you think should be banned. social security As soon as Republicans give up on trying to privatize it, they will work with Dems and they will extend it just like they have in the past. We have Americans refusing to stand for our national anthem. A) Jehovah's Witnesses have refused to stand for the pledge and anthem for decades. ref B) So what? 1

bring both sides of Government together You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. Especially if they have a deliberate strategy not to. 1

Not one GOP vote for Obama's hideous Progressive healthcare plan. Many liberals were upset that it wasn't a progressive plan - it wasn't single-payer, it didn't have a public option, etc. etc. - it was as close as possible to the same plan Romney signed in Massachusetts. Of 210 amendments offered by Republicans in one committee - 161 were accepted and only 49 were rejected - yet that plan still got 0 Republican votes in committee. In the Finance committee - the bill did get one Republican vote - Olympia Snowe of Maine. Language arrived at by trying to get Republican votes is still in the law. 1

[Black communities] are far worse off with more unemployment, terrible inner city problems, gangs, failed schools, etc. The current black unemployment rate is lower than the average for any year on record except 1999 and 2000 - ref Dropout rates are going down among all groups white, black, Hispanic, etc. ref 1

what did Obma do to help stem the problem of fatherless children? Besides set a good example, repeatedly speak about it, setup the Fatherhood and Mentoring initiative, create PSA ads, fatherhood.gov, pilot programs to increase child support payments, pilot program to get housing for homeless vets and reconnect them with their children, Second Chance Act grants to help incarcerated fathers return to their families, expanding services for children who have an incarcerated parent, working for criminal justice reform to keep more parents out of prison in the first place, etc., etc. etc. ref, ref, ref, ref, ref, ref, ref, ref, ref, ref, ref, ref, ref, ref, etc. 1

bring back jobs to America > Since 2010, more than 200 companies, mostly U.S.-based, have brought back production they had sent out of the country. > across all industries, from 2007 through 2012, foreign investment in U.S. manufacturing totaled $493 billion versus $270 billion the previous six years > the number of manufacturing jobs that are returning to the U.S. — or coming to the U.S. for the first time — from overseas has hit a record level. > 2014’s net increase of at least 10,000 jobs was the first net gain in at least 20 years. > foreign direct investment and reshoring of activity by US-headquartered companies added 67,000 manufacturing jobs to the US in 2015. > the total number of manufacturing jobs brought to the US via FDI and reshoring has reached more than 249,000 since manufacturing employment hit a low in 2010. > Seventeen percent of manufacturers are "actively reshoring," or moving operations back to the U.S., up from 13% in 2013, according to BCG's survey of 263 U.S. manufacturing executives in September. 1

get rid of tax loop holes so the Rich pay their fair share, etc. What happened? The Bush tax cuts for the rich were allowed to expire while the cuts for lower brackets were made permanent, the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit were expanded, increased/created scholarships and tax credits for low income students. the top tax rate on investment income went from 15% back to 20%. Restored limits on deductions for high-income taxpayers. Cut down on asset discounting ref Cracked down on offshore tax avoidance. Increased scrutiny has led to 10s of thousands of voluntary disclosures allowing the IRS to collect more than $8 billion in tax, penalties, and interest. Treasury actions to curb corporate “tax inversions” ref The lowest fifth of now pay 6% less in taxes and the top 0.1% pay 6% more in taxes. And wants to do more (enact the Buffet rule, end carried interest loophole, limit write-offs, close trust-fund loophole, etc.) - if you want also want more done in this regard, get rid of the Republicans that are blocking it. 1

one accomplishment As I've already told you - the Congress had a deliberate strategy to block everything. Also, Dems only had 60 votes in the Senate for 132 days (including 38 weekend days, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, etc. - they only convened on 70 days). 1
