So, you wanna discuss traffic enforcement, huh? Ok, so what's your speed limit?
Hello:
You don't know, do ya?? Nahh.. I'm not talking about that sign.. That sign is LYING to you.. I'm talking about the ACTUAL speed limit.. You know, the one where if you drive 1 mph OVER, you WILL get a ticket, and if you drive 1 mph UNDER you will NEVER get a ticket...
It's like I said.. You DON'T know.. So, WHO does?? The COP, that's who.. Given that EVERYBODY speeds, the COP now decides who is going to get a ticket.. The POWER to run your life the way YOU want to, switched from YOU to the COPS.. That AIN'T the way it's supposed to be..
I suggest we put the POWER back into the drivers hands by having a speed limit that's REAL.
Before I close, lemme relate the story that prompted this post.. There I was, driving on a lonely country road where the posted speed limit was 55, and I was going about 60.. The road was paved and straight, and it was a nice sun shiny afternoon.. NOBODY was around.. Ever so slowly, I approach a cop ahead of me doing 55.. I follow him for a while - actually a LONG while.. He doesn't do anything.. So, I ease around him to pass, but I only speed up to around 60 mph. When I got in front of him, sure enough his red lights go on, and I get a ticket..
Kinda blew me away...

Lesson of the day; don't speed. Cops who speed but then give tickets for so also don't deserve to be cops. Having a dashcam with your spedometer in view, tailing the cop at a fixed distance to prove current speed of the cop and then passing them, only to have them pull you over could land the cop in trouble and you ticketless. Not suggesting you go out hunting for speeding cops, unless you really have no life/a lot of free time. |
