I had a tough time trying to figure out which side to choose on this topic, but I've come to my conclusion, though painstakingly. Social media gives a chance for the public to have a higher feeling of political efficacy. Though social media may twist information to make it misleading, thus only increasing the American ignorance of politics (I'll just say its hypocritical of me to say that, but it's true nonetheless), but still providing a grounds for Americans to hear about information in a quick, sometimes efficient, fashion.

People say social media is really antisocial. I think that social media has to be used to find meetup groups like hackerspaces, clubs, protests, etc. but when done right could potentially be more social than without.

My mom has made tons of friends off of Twitter especially and I think social media HAS brought those of us who choose to meet up with others together moreso than before. The problem is most of us don't use the Internet the way it should be used, myself included to some extent.

Look at meetup.com or dating sites. Experts say they work. People don't even really use Google correctly. There are all sorts of things people don't know exist on the Dark web, etc. Its just how its implemented.

Unrelated things. Dark web is not related to the implementation, and it is obvious that you do not have any idea of what antisocial even means.

There are no absolute ideal ways to use Internet (or the Form of Internet usage, if you understand).

While it connects people and stuff, the time people spend on social media is ridiculous, and may be countering productivity. Honestly, this is also a social media site, so the majority should be pro. We must ask those who don't use social media for more valid arguments.

If we are to talk about something being a blessing or curse, we have to look at the final outcomes rather than just what it basically comprises of.

And well, face interaction has been more favoured than that on social media evolutionarily, because one of the two wasn't present (no cookies for guessing). As social media does not have enough effects by itself for your social life as other forms of interaction do, and neither for your internal life as other forms of staying alone do, it is basically just about killing time while being as less efficient as you can.

Social media has given us a new global revolution on communication, but when it comes about the dark sides we often seem to ignore them, some of those may be misinformation, more people tend to belive that the viral things are the ones they should care about, but based on this promise we can be more influenced than ever on our daily choices. Another drawback of the social media, is that it discourages people from getting physical exercise, getting more into a sedentary life.
