Sometimes a fight can bring the combatants closer together.

Throw down drag out fight

This guy and I finally became friends after we shared the same experience, at the same time, together. The teacher had forced the issue once he saw that we were always at each others throats. He didn't know what had transpired outside of school (we never told him). But the fighting stopped.

I wanna know what happened outside school. Juicy details please.

Side: yes

I can't go into all of the details but ....

Shawn was my nemesis in our senior year of H.S. It didn't help that we had not only the same birth date but also shared many interests. One of them was flying a plane (and yes, we wanted to learn how to land too). Anyway, after regular school we would board a bus and go to another school to continue our studies which lasted till 4:00 PM where our teacher would force us to sit next to each other.

One day the class had to go somewhere (field trip or something) and there were no buses so students had to volunteer their cars and time to drive the other students. I got stuck with Shawn and this other guy from this other school (different than the two I already talked about).

Our experience started when we had to drive this kid to his home and his family was not there so he wanted us to drive him to his school to meet up with his friends and sibling and things just got weird from there. Shawn and I got to see first hand how these people lived.

When we finally left the house, we came to a stop sign and Shawn just sat there. I didn't want to look at him and he didn't want to look at me. But eventually we did and we both busted out laughing at the surreal experience. We just kept on telling each other what we had just heard and witnessed and kept on laughing until we had to move the car out of the way.

Ah, the teenage years ;)

It is most commonly seen in males, but competition, combat, or other physical activity can promote amicable conditions. A single unresolved issue of alpha position can interfere with other activities. By facing off in some manner, they ritually acknowledge the alpha male and dissipate their hunter-prey tunnel vision.

In our society, physical confrontation is perceived as negative and unhelpful, however this is not always the case. As a result, we have substitutes such as spectator sports and drinking games.

Note that this behavior is sometimes seen in women--particularly with a dominant or "masculine" nature. Humans are as variable as any species.

Maybe only Alpha humans should mate? We need to cleanse the human gene pool somehow and so far all of my suggestions have been shot down ;)

Indeed, they have. And so as not to disappoint you, I'll point out that alphas don't mate with alphas. The more dominant one partner is, the more passive the other must be. This is true regardless of species, gender, or orientation.

We can see who wears the pants in the Cavalry household. LOL :P

Aww nice story. I can't help but feel bad for the messy house kid though. It reminds me of a brief time in high school that at the time seemed like the end of the world. We bought a house out in the country that needed work - but my mom fell in love so we moved in. The water was well and I went to a Catholic school and wore white shirts with my uniform. Yeah - my white shirts were turning orange. I remember pleading with my parents to get it fixed or buy me a new shirt for everyday. I remember feeling dirty and embarrassed. Ended up washing my clothes at Grandma's house who lived like normal people in the city. Then the house was always under some kind of repair and I never wanted to have friends over. It was really tragic to me then. Looking back how silly - but I still felt bad for the kid you two had laughs over. Glad it turned out happy though. Even here it happens ;)

No, his house was fine. I'm talking about what he, his friends and their school considered normal.

Here's just one example. They told us that there was this kid in school that dressed all weird, had long finger nails, long hair and played the guitar. Normal so far, right (I mean for a H.S. student)? But the problem was that he played the guitar while walking the hallways when everyone else was in class. so in our school, he would have been suspended. But in his school they put him on stage and everyone used that as an excuse to cut class and watch him play!

Over the years I have forgotten much of what they told us but I remember that Shawn and I were like, "What planet are these people from?"

Oh I see - that's how I felt when I entered public school - what planet are these people from - I soon enough found out.

Yes - ahh high school days!

Side: yes

Yeah, exactly, those kids put the word "High" in their high school ;)
