Sound and Light waves are similar and different? What's your view and why?

Sound waves are created by vibrations in a material medium. This means they cannot propagate in vacuum, which explains why you wouldn't be able to have a conversation in space. And like TheEccentric said, sound waves are longitudinal, meaning that they vibrate and propagate in the same direction. In the other hand, light waves are carried by electromagnetic radiation (i.e. photons). Light can propagate both in material mediums, like air, and in vacuum, otherwise sunlight wouldn't reach the Earth. Light waves are transverse, since they vibrate and propagate in different directions. |
