Spanish slanty-eyes ad: good humor or racist?
Spain's Olympic basketball team has an ad out with them making slanty-eyes with their fingers. The ad's running just during the Olympics, and only in Spain. The players say it was all affectionate humor, and that they were just doing what the photographer suggested. Are people getting upset over nothing and being too politically correct, or is this racist and offensive?

There's no racial stereotype they're playing to, just physical appearance. If anything they're saying that they're getting ready to compete on the Chinese home soil. The players obviously didn't make the call, the ad people did, but even so, ads are supposed to be controversial. The ad seems like it's just some good natured humor. Any response by the Chinese besides coming out and eating some rice and beans before their next match would be reading way too much into the ad. Side: good humor
