Europe is FAR better off than America BECAUSE it had strong leaders .... as WE had a few years ago when a couple of epidemics were nipped-in-the-bud. Had we had strong leadership this year thousands would still be alive! Europe shut down for a few weeks with strong penalties for those who didn't. Then opened up slowly with more strict rules ... and penalties. Here, our very weak leader said: "It's up to you guys running the states!" (I want to use the George Foreman defence if anything goes wrong .... Not MY problem! :-). I've lived under 15 Presidents. This is the ONLY one who didn't think like Truman did when he said: "The buck stops HERE!" Europe, you did well! America .... you elected Trump! (Even though he wasn't as "popular" as the other unpopular one!) Dummies! Time to correct the wrong! TRY to vote in person! Don't give this "virus" a chance to get re-elected! Wear your mask .... and hold your nose .... you may be standing next to a Trump voter! No hill is a good hill to die on. Capitol Hill is not QUITE so dumb at the moment now that the unmasked "Louie, Louie, Louie, Louieeee" has left it! Now, if we can get the OTHER dummy to leave it...... we can begin to get back to European standards. ;-) That is if Germany can fend off Rumps friend Putin without our help! Many people consider themselves to be above the laws, and recommended codes of practice that apply to the society in which they live. They rationalize that such laws pertaining to the wearing of seat belts, using mobile phones and the excessive intake of intoxicating liquor while driving vehicles on public roads applies to everyone except themselves. We can now add the compulsory/advisory wearing of face masks and social distancing for inclusion to the list for those who live on Dummy's Hill. However, in this regard we must be careful not to judge others too harshly nor sanctimoniously as, for instance, almost everyone, including me, break the speed limit laws every day, (speed kills) nor strictly observe all the highway safety legislation and mandatory road signage. Such a dumb hill to die on. Recently Herman Cain lost a battle with Covid after intentionally going to a Trump rally without wearing a mask where he contracted the virus. It's unfortunate that this happened and I'm certain his family and friends and even his followers are in mourning. He was dying of cancer prior to the event. You should watch less CNN. And yet if he's worn a mask and practiced social distancing and spent his time and efforts encouraging his following to wear masks, instead of speaking out against them, this could have turned out quite differently. We'll never know. What we can see is if his death from this will encourage his supporters to practice the preventive measures that scientists and doctors have been recommending.
