CreateDebate is a social debate community built around ideas, discussion and democracy.
If this is your first time checking out a debate, here are some quick tips to help get you started:
Arguments with the highest score are displayed first.
Argument replies (both in favor and in opposition) are displayed below the original argument.
To follow along, you may find it helpful to show and hide the replies displayed below each argument.
To vote for an argument, use these icons:
You have the power to cast exactly one vote (either up or down) for each argument.
Once you vote, the icon will become grayed out and the argument's score will change.
Yes, you can change your vote.
Debate scores, side scores and tag scores are automatically calculated by an algorithm that primarily takes argument scores into account.
All scores are updated in real-time.
To learn more about the CreateDebate scoring system, check out the FAQ.
When you are ready to voice your opinion, use the Add Argument button to create an argument.
If you would like to address an existing argument, use the Support and Dispute link within that argument to create a new reply.
Capitalism only works when 95 percent of people are idiots who believe either talent or hard work is going to make them rich. It's a reward system where the reward never comes, the same as religion.

If you define rich by the measure of most of the world, I'm rich. Central heat and air, cell phone, 2 flat screen tvs, hot running shower, clean water, 3 vehicles, can get groceries without harvesting or doing any work, and more.
It's a reward system where the reward never comes, the same as religion.
No, you did. All of the countries on the highest standard of living index have socialised health systems, socialised education systems and socialised banking systems. Can you guess which country ISN'T anywhere to be found on that list? I'm sure you can, if you think really hard about it.
As you can see, America is not on the list, nor is any modern capitalist nation, and the list is dominated by monarchies and/or fascist military dictatorships.
As you can see, America is not on the list, nor is any modern capitalist nation, and the list is dominated by monarchies and/or fascist military dictatorships.
1 - Six of the nations on your list (#s 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, & 10) were capitalist.
2 - Britain, Germany, Japan, Russia, France, Italy, India, Persia, Austria, and Hungary are all modern capitalist nations.
I can see, however, that it is a fair argument that major governmental interruptions, conquests, or revolutions constitute a new nation, but even then, Britain remains a modern nation on your list, and at the top, no less.
3 - What you fail to account for is what constitutes the wealth of the nation. Every one of the empires you list preexisted mechanical refrigeration (i.e.,by any method more advanced than an icebox.) All of them preexist mobile phones, internet, the polio vaccine, and penicillin.
Measuring wealth in comparative dollar values limits the valuation of technological wealth that have low dollar values now, but make priceless contributions to quality of life for ordinary people.
Consider, a $5 tube of Neosporin is not sensibly translatable to the equivalent currency value in any one of these empires. Were you to take a couple tubes of antibiotic ointment to one of these nations, the ability to prevent infection and possible amputation could bring a price the equivalent of many thousands of dollars.
If it's a reward system, the reward has to come at some point. Otherwise, it isn't a reward system. Also, no, capitalism and religion are not the same. Talent, hard work, or both will make you rich if you're patient. How do you think we have rich people in the first place?
Capitalism only works when 95 percent of people are idiots who believe either talent or hard work is going to make them rich.
Obviously, they are wrong.
30% of the world's population is obese or overweight. (https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-obesity/weight-of-the-world-2-1-billion-people-obese-or-overweight-idUSKBN0E82HX20140528 )
It is doubtful that all those people are particularly talented or hard-working, yet they have the ultimate prize reserved for the wealthy; they are fat.
For the vast majority of our species' history, the primary marks of wealth were body fat, and owning more than you can carry.
It's a reward system where the reward never comes, the same as religion.
We are living off of the hard work and talents of others, all processed through the ultimate wealth creation machine: capitalism.
The 2.5 billion people who own smartphones are living in the capitalist heaven of wealth beyond the dreams of 19th century kings.

Jesus Christ you're so stupid. Everything you say is retarded. You have not worked for the wealth which daddy decided to give you and therefore I agree: you are living off other people like the obnoxious, misinformed parasite you are. Those of us without rich relatives do not get to milk the teat of daddy, but have to actually work for a living.
You seem to have misunderstood my point, which is that the technological advances of the past four centuries constitute almost all of the wealth of the world, and most of that wealth is in the hands of everyday people.
Without having to invent, develop, and make them ourselves, we have cars, ibuprofen, cell phones, books, ball point pens, Neosporin, high yield grain, rubber-soled shoes, etc. ad infinitum. That is the wealth the whole world has inherited, and an astoundingly vast majority of people in the world own to some degree.
This includes you. You are on a computer that you did not invent, using applications and services you did not develop.
Welcome to the unprecedented privilege of living in the 21st century.

What possible reason do you have to assert such ridiculous things about me?
I was 30 years old before I earned more than the poverty line for a single person. I have worked since I was 12 years old. I have paid for my education or earned scholarships. I have paid off all the loans I have ever taken out, including my mortgage.
What I got from my parents were a work ethic, a belief in education, and a sense of both perspective and gratitude.
I earned what I have, (for well over a decade, I worked two jobs a day) yet I am still grateful for the opportunity to do so in an era when there is more to be had than just a loincloth and bare subsistence.
Jesus Christ you're so stupid. Everything you say is retarded.
Your command of written English indicates that you are educated and intelligent, but you nullify that by being intellectually lazy, bitter, and baselessly entitled and judgmental.
Try limiting your commentary and arguments to things you actually know. Your reliance on insult and unfounded accusations undermines many points you try to make.
"Become talented" is an oxymoron, since the entire meaning of talent is natural skill. Please stop saying stupid stuff, Marcus. I'm in no mood for it mate.
"Become talented" is an oxymoron, since the entire meaning of talent is natural skill.
Natural aptitude and skill still require development.
Mozart had some incredible natural musical abilities, but he still had to learn musical notation, how to play piano, chord progressions, etc.. That took work.
You also discount (unaccountably) that abilities do not exist in a vacuum. They must be integrated with other behaviors and efforts in order to bear any fruit. That requires work as well.
The biggest problem with treating a talent as some manifestation of luck is that the divorcement of talent from work puts people in a self-defeating mindset if they don't think they have a talent for some thing they want to do.
The second biggest problem is that people with natural aptitudes often do not do the work necessary to bring the aptitude to meaningful fruition.
Reaching one's potential always requires hard work.
I suppors talent is lucky to get chance and success . Talent can't get money as far as get lucky . so we should to focus hardworking . Someone aware hardworking is need toughness and continue something .
