I don't believe in any form of censorship and in that respect I think the statements people chose to make by writing or drawing on their body are valid to openly express - so long as the body part exposed isn't violating some other public decency law. I'll add, however, that observers are welcome to their own opinions, as well as to rejecting the person who made the statement, so if a doctor has a spiderweb tattoo on his face and a patient decides they want a different doctor I think that's within the patient's rights. All I'll add people who opt for very visible tattoos have demonstrated that they want to elevate whatever they have to say above anything else including a future employer's standards, and that's plenty of reason for a future employer to say sorry, you're not who I'm looking for to work in my business. That's a price you will occasionally pay for opting for visible tattoos. Side: Let them show
You have the right to "design" your body how you want. You do not however get to expect other people to be ok with it all of the time. As was stated earlier, I don't know if I want my child's pediatrician to have a large life-like skull tattoo on their face or hands nor do I want my gynecologist to have body modifications to make them look like a lizard. I'll support their decision to do as they want, even if I don't agree with it but with more drastic body alterations there needs to be an understanding that people will have certain concerns in certain job locations. Now in life outside of work, I don't care. One of my friends is into suspension, his friends are super nice, I'll admit to initially being a bit weirded out by all of the piercings and ink but that was my own hang up, and he is the most dedicated father I've ever seen. To each their own. Side: Let them show
I feel that ''body art'' is a way of expressing one's individuality and, perhaps making a statement. In this context tattoos should be not be concealed other than by the wearing of clothes appropriate with the requirements of certain occupations. The proud owner of such body graffiti must also be aware that the message portrayed on their colorful displays could upset other people who may express their protest in the form of violence ( like a bottle smashed over their teeth by ''gouge your eyes out Mc Gurk'', and possibly ruin their chances of securing the job they wished for and/or retard their opportunities for promotions. By all means be proud of your tattoos and flaunt them for all the world to see, providing you don't mind the possible consequences. Side: Let them show
If the employer is ok with hiring someone with "body modification" and letting this display it than so be it. If an employer doesn't want anyone bearing tatts or piercings than they can refuse them and find someone who doesn't have them. ...and just saying... More than likely, future engineers, doctors, lawyers, etc know this and will either make it to where they can hide their tattoo or not have them in the first place. Side: Let them show
