Ted Kennedy disgraced the J.F.K. legacy.

We have become a country of victims. Everyone wants to get on the gravy train. Free health care for all. Free this, free that. Everyone has a right to this stuff and that stuff and if you go against the flow you are a racist or a Nazi.

They compare themselves to slaves in order to make you feel sorry for them. Their cause is just as great as all of those other causes American have fought for.

People don't ask, "What can I do to improve myself." People ask, "What can I do to get a government handout." Everyone loves J.F.K. but they have forgotten his famous speech, "Ask not what the country can do for you but what you can do for your country."

Ted Kennedy was a disgrace to that famous speech. Ted Kennedy wanted to get as much as possible from the country in order to give it to those who kept on asking "What can the country do for me?"

I have always thought that.

Amen

Dependency on government handouts and welfare Is Slavery!

If J.F.K. Ran today on the same platform I would enthusiastically vote for him over Bush or McCain.

The guy was a disgrace. From leaving people dead in a car at the bottom of a river and not confessing to it until it was too obvious. If this was you or me we would have done jail time for. To going to Germany in the cold war to try to stop Reagan from helping tearing down the wall. To having Massachusetts being one of the highest taxed states in the U.S. He was everything wrong with American politics a career politician. We need term limits for Senators. 12 years max.

The guy was a scumbag, no doubt.

But he's a Kennedy. It's sort of in their genes (except for Bobby Kennedy, he was the black sheep).

Hell, the Kennedy family gained their fortune from dealing with the mob.

So your saying Ted Kennedy was not a Disgrace?

I think he was a disgrace to J.F.K. Maybe not the rest of the family but definitely to J.F.K. and to our country and our founding fathers.

JFK was another cheating scumbag who didn't know how to do shit. He was good at pissing people off, no doubt.

as usual, your claims are near 100% misrepresentation of the facts

for example ... people are not demanding "free health care".

what has fallen upon your death ears (and brain) is that people don't want the continued gouging from big corporate insurance companies

it is not FREE health-care but pooling money together via taxes and using those resources to obtain health-care

the only groups i see that are really benefiting from government handouts are big corporate America. for example ... look at all of the no-bid contracts

Side: Wait..., What? No!

You are right. I misspoke. People are not demanding free health care. They are demanding something cheaper and a lot more scaled down than Obama care.

Still not true. 52% approve of Obama's plan and only 38% disapprove. (Source)

The Government has no Money unless it prints it in bulk like toilet paper, then it has the same value as toilet paper.

If your hands are in my pockets taking my hard earned money for anything it’s Stealing.

If the Government’s hands are in my pockets taking my hard earned money it’s Socialism.

Communism is after the fact that you and your government has successfully taken everything all citizens used to own.

As for Corporations: The government should not be giving out money to anyone or Corporation.

Every company and individual either stands and works on their own two feet or they don’t.

Printing money is necessary to keep the economy growing at a stable rate. (more info)

Taxation is necessary to pay for government programs which benefit us all. It doesn't imply socialism or communism.

The government only lends money to corporations in dire emergencies like the financial crisis. And even then they don't give handouts, but loans which the companies have to repay. (more info)

Nobody goes through life without support from others.

WTH are you talking about, Joe? Teddy Kennedy was a champion of peace, education, and human rights, one of the main reasons that you make at least $7.25 an hour instead of at least $3.35 an hour, and the only member of the Senate to demand that Anita Hill be treated with dignity because it was the right thing to do despite the fact that he knew he'd catch hell over Chappaquiddick on national TV all over again.

As a footnote, it's "legacy." And who is this mysterious "they" who you're going on about?

Lets just make the minimum wage $120 per hour?

Then everyone would make a minimum $250 thousand a year.

Then president Obama can tax 100% of us and, and, and then we would be starting the next millennium of peace in a perfect world.

Or do you think inflation may make a meal at McDonalds cost $150.

A new Car $375,000

A new small modest home $ 2.5 Million.

Jacking with the minimum wage is a game politicians Like Senator Ted Kennedy (RIP) use to buy votes.

It's inflation, when I'm all for raising minimum wages but he was not the only person for it look at the voting records on it. Although not every Republican voted for it many did it was very bipartisan.

I didn't say Republicans didn't vote for it. I said Kennedy was "one of the main reasons" the minimum wage was raised, and he was; he was the major lobbying force in Congress for the proposal of bills to increase the minimum wage in the 90s.

Everybody who thinks he's entitled to something from the government? Everybody?

So . . . when our soldiers return home and go to the VA for medical care, they are "comparing themselves to slaves in order to make you feel sorry for them."

When your grandmama picks up her SSI check out of the mail, she is "comparing herself to a slave in order to make you feel sorry for her."

When your kids attend public school, they are "comparing themselves to slaves in order to make you feel sorry for them."

God forbid you should ever need to call the fire department or the police, lest they think you are merely comparing yourself to a slave in order to make them feel sorry for you . . .

Wow!

So, Ted Kennedy is one of the main reasons why $7.25 worth of purchasing power is less than $3.35 of purchasing power?

Ted K. is also one of the reasons why we were paid $3.35 per hour instead of $10.50 an hour. Again, T. Kennedy is one of the main reasons some are paid $7.25 per hour instead of $15.50 an hour.

Your argument of wages only demonstrates T. Kennedy's main role in impoverishing minimum wage earners. Yea, you failed to realize the economic realities of subsistent wages of which T. Kennedy is a main reason.

BTW, you refer to him as a champion!

Forget the "I taught logic" bs!

Although, you can assert that you taught BS for $7.25.

You don't even make sense. FACTS, please, not ranting.

Are you asserting that increasing the minimum wage is the direct and sole cause of inflation? That's daft.

And BTW yourself, the phrase was "champion of [cause]", which is a common convention of speech indicating primary supporter or leader of such cause. I can't imagine you're unaware of that. It appears you're erecting one of your beloved straw men again.

Your argument isn't even coherent. As usual, you just rely on insulting your opponent rather than making a single clear and factually-supported point. If you are mentally capable of rephrasing your "argument" with cogent points and supported facts, please do so, so that I can respond in some manner other than asking if you are on LSD.

I will not defend the misdeeds of Ted Kennedy. To compare him to the JFK legacy though borders on the ridiculous. JFK never proved himself. For each success in his short-lived presidency he had a failure. There was no legacy other than dying far too young as the president of the USA in a ghastly dramatic fashion at the hands of a demented alienated loser. Having a young beautiful wife and 2 small children left behind for a country to mourn with added to the JFK mystic.

No, Teddy disgraced himself. He disgraced his children and family. He disgraced the country. He is not the first nor will he be the last to make horrible mistakes in service to this country. Ultimately he did a lot of good for millions of people.

The Kennedys were a polarizing family to Americans. There were/are people who admire them to the point of obessesion and there are people who hated the name and anyone with that name. Both are outliers.

Ted was a man who did bad things and he did good things. He is now dead. Let it go.
