You know what they say about first impressions, right? I had read Mein Kampf and I was all like Hellno2012, this man's a ballbag, but then when we met, he turned out to be a diamond geezer, we hit it off straight away, he was a massive Darwin fan as was I, he loved music and we were both brought up Catholic. After a while it was like brothers separated at birth, I'd ring him up and I was like "well Adie what you up to", and he'd be all like "gassing some Jews", then I'd be all like "man you'll never change" Side: Like:He was an amazing fuhrer

Darn, I was actually about to create a debate on Hitler, but oh well. In this post, I am really going to try and put to bed all claims that he was a good leader, which appears to be a very popular school of thought (ie, shitty guy, great leader). However, I would like to point out that I do not agree with the tag for this side. I do not hate Hitler, nor do I believe he was the devil. Let's begin. Firstly, the economy. It's a rather common claim that Hitler rescued the German economy. There are several flaws with this. For a start, Hitler was not unique in doing this. Gustav Stresemann lead Weimar to its golden age, bringing economic and diplomatic success right up until his death (ironically a day before the wall street crash). Then, the way Hitler did it. Hitler restored the economy by massively centralizing it on the military. It was based on a system of outrageous production. I forget the actual figure, but from the years 1933-39, plastic production increased approx. 500%. Such an economy needs war to sustain itself. If not for WW2, the entire German economy would have imploded. So Hitler put his country in a catch 22: They could either not go to war and watch their people starve, lose jobs and revolt; or go to war and watch their people murdered in their millions. Any leader who forces such a situation cannot be called "great". Secondly, Hitler's cultural policies. They were often barbaric, archaic, oppressive, and tyrannical. Hitler enforced very traditional Pan-German views, which forced him to censor much of the popular, more liberal culture. For example, women were taught the values of children, church, and kitchen (I believe the phrase was Kinder, Kurche, Kitche? Forgive the spelling, my German is atrocious). At a time when around the world women were starting to emerge as equals, this was truly a backwards step. Of course, his racial policies influenced his cultural views too. Jazz was banned for being too "black", and we all know the infamous Jesse Owen incident. Thirdly, his foreign and diplomatic policies. Well, "murder stab kill" will only get you so far in life. Whilst I do acknowledge that Versailles may have forced Hitler's hands, I think it would be fair to assume that a man as warped and aggressive as Hitler would have carried out his Jingoistic policies anyway. And his military decisions were quite poor, I could discuss them in detail, but I refer you to a book called "Hitler: Military commander", or something very similar. Finally, his racial policies cannot be ignored. I don't need to go into detail here, anybody who's brain hasn't fallen out can see that the holocaust was a disgusting, reprehensible act that cannot be denied or justified. For the benefit of those who may think I'm biased, I will now list some of the positives of Hitler. For a start, he was the greatest orator humanity has ever seen: no doubt. He made the autobahn and the volkswagen, which were key in the future development of transportation. And there was no mistake that this man was daring, brave, and courageous. However, I'm afraid that these positives do not outweigh the negatives. Hitler was certainly charismatic, polarising, famous, and unforgettable. But he was not the great leader that he is commonly made out to be. Side: Hate:He was a devil and sucked

Hitler took "fuck you" to a whole other level, which can't be excused by a civilized society. And this is just me... But after I was kicked out of Spain, after I was kicked out of Russia, after I was kicked out of just about every country in the world, maybe I'd stop thinking "what's wrong with everyone?" and start thinking "maybe it's me". He might have been a great Orator etc which he had to be to get the German people behind him and to believe his bullshit, most of the iconography he used was stolen from other civilizations when people refer to Aryan's they always think of Hitlers idea, Blond, Blue Eyed etc (which Hitler did'nt measure up to himself) when in reality Aryan refers to proto-Indo-European and proto-Indo-Iranian people, they originated in Russia and migrated westward into much of Europe. They also migrated south-east into India, taking both language and the early Hindu religion with them and south to the east of the Caspian Sea into Persia (what is now Iran), a lot of Persian's still refer to themselves as Aryan and most Aryan's are dark skinned and dark haired. I can't agree with a lot of what he did, but I don't condemn him as wholly as most other people do. History up to the present day is littered with men just as bent on maniacal genocide as he was, and yet he catches the rap of universal bogyman simply because he was more successful. To me intent is oftentimes just as important as results; I don't see Hitler as being any more evil than anyone else in the world who ever killed for reasons as petty as his own, he was just better at it than your run-of-the-mill tyrannical dictator. Perhaps I'm just a sucker for efficiency, and I don't think anyone can deny the Germans efficiency both in war and in genocide, and yet the Nazis are condemned more fervently and frequently because of their efficiency. he sucked because he commited suicide (did he?) He did. Like millions of soldiers and leaders,he killed himself so he wouldn't become an ally prisoner and because he failed germany, so he killed himself for his failure. and he didn't even try to kill the stupid and mad and crazy people He did. He gassed them and steralized them because he thought mental deficiency was genetic. He didn't want germans to suffer from mental deficiency and for the "aryans" to be impure. what was so bad about jews? A jewish doctor failed to save his mother who he cherished and loved so much. Jewish teatchers told him he sucked at drawing and crushed his dream to become an artist. They controlled the economy and led germany to a depression. That's what made hitler hate them. They also killed jesus. The last one is the only bad thing I can the of. Side: Like:He was an amazing fuhrer

He was good with words I'll give him that but the fact that one man's hatred for an entire race of people raised his country from the ashes of depression- that is what truly scares me. He ruined the lives of those he put to work in the concentration camps, the POWS as well (a good book on the life of a POW is entitled "The Man Who Broke into Auschwitz- its a very sad and very moving account of one man's struggle to survive and to understand the atrocities he witnessed). Having said that, Hitler also ruined the lives of many of the German people- read "The Book Theif"- a fictional account of a girl named Liesel Meminger and her experience as a young orphan girl living in Nazi Germany. Hitler was really good at persuading people. Overall though he was a horrible man where he committed mass genocide and was responsible for one of the most barbaric events in history. Now any man/or woman that can convince as many people as Hitler did to just hate on select groups of people for no reason and killing people off for artificial selection in genetics has to be a brilliant man/or woman at persuasion. I mean I don't have high expectations for people being moral, but prejudice is illogical and irrational, (I mean think about how rational and logical it is to hate someone for being a different color, a logical person will understand how arbitrary that is) and a healthy minded person who is intelligent will have little prejudice, and to convince that many people in this day and age that it is okay to torture people over arbitrary reasons takes some skill. Hitler didn't just discriminate against the Jewish, those were just the biggest number of his victims and thus he focused on them more, he killed homosexuals and disabled people as well as part of his eugenics. If Hitler had good intentions, he could have done some good in the world, and as ugly as a man as he was, and as ugly the events he created, he is proof that one man can have the potential to change the world. His efforts to improve Germany was impressive but his method of purification was wrong. His beliefs about Arianism was a bit too exaggerated since it would be obvious that they lost time and time again, he still continued his campaign. He also risked his war efforts in finding hidden artifacts rather than valuable resources in which led to their loss in world war 2. Therefore he was kind of rash with his decisions and ended up killing himself with his defeat. Side: Hate:He was a devil and sucked
