The Great American Emancipator a Racist?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00y5kdx/Abraham_Lincoln_Saint_or_Sinner/

The above link shows a program by the BBC describing how Abraham Lincoln, a multi-million dollar american industry, was in fact racsit to such an extent that he even want to deport all the black people in the US. Before you go claiming the program is full of lies, I'ld just like to point out that the BBC is reknown for being unbiased and they did suggest that Mr Lincoln was provoked into preaching racsit comments.

If you were to look back and research Abraham Lincoln there is no evidence to prove that he is racist, but before the emancipation proclomation there was another, not as popular resolution to the problem that was dividing our country. Abraham Lincoln actually wanted to gather all the black people and send them all to South America where they could create their own country and there would be peace here as well at there. I don't think it makes him a racist, i just think he was trying to think logically and solve the root issue, the fact that the different races hated each other.

" there is no evidence to prove that he is racist,"

If you'ld bothered to watch the footage you'ld have noticed it talk about Mr Lincoln's racist speech where he claims that black peopel were "inferior" and "physically different" and so they didn't deserve "equal rights".

And your point? You are using the values of today to judge people of the past, furthermore actions speak louder than words. Although it is possible he was motivated by a desire to remove differences and tension between the North and the South the fact remains he was a great leader and man.

My point is that every new american generation is decieving themselves to believe that their country is the pinnacle of good, whereas in reality it clearly isn't.
