The Kavanaugh debate is NOT about his fitness. It's about the electability of the Senators

It is pretty ironic to see people we know for a fact drink too much saying someone is unfit for drinking 36 years ago.

Your right that the nomination process is overly political. It has been ever since some certain political groups began to nominate Judges that would rule on the basis of political activism rather than honest interpretations of the Constitution as written. I don’t think that proponents of judicial activism would stop nominating judges who will bend the language of the Constitution into whatever pretzel of penumbras and emanations suit them.

However, we also may have less political hackory as campaign grandstanding in the immediate process. So term limits may not stop it, but would help.

Of course if we had that Kavanaugh would have never been accused of a damn thing and he would have been in weeks ago.
