The Price of Higher Education

As we have seen in the past years the price of college has gone up drasticly and it may continue to do so. So should it be some how lowered or be left alone and let it continue to rise?

Lower the price of education isn't going to come at the magic wand of more government. The government intervention in education of subsidized loans is the reason for the rising cost of post secondary education.

If government lessened subsidize loans then less people would have an education, and there would be less demand for one, meaning lower costs. However, it also means less money for our educational facilities and thus lower qualities(which could mean the rich goes out of country for education, potentially destroying the entire industry or substantially reducing the number of people it employees), and it would result in less people capable of working in a knowledge base economy, which means less future job prospects for the population and less prosperity for america.

There are a few other things that could be done, such as creating more schools, expanding schools, etc. Education is a need in America, and cutting the means to satisfy that need away to save costs is going to cost more in the long run. I would rather not trade short term gains for long term loses.

Wrong, the efficient use of money will be put into our educational facilities rather than creating artificial demands as does government subsidization of post secondary education. This article is the results.

It shouldn't cost anything. God forbid people try and educate themselves.

Agreed! I hear stories all the time from family about how, "It didn't cost ANYTHING for me to go to school", so why should it be any different now. The prices for school are so sky high now, that it is a struggle for parents with multiple kids to send them all to school. Education shouldn't have to come at a price.

As a high school student, I can tell you how stressful finding colleges is now. I can not sit around and say that I want to go to a certain college. Because the prices are just to high, unless by some miracle I become the perfect student so I can get a scholarship. Prices need to be lowered.

The price of education should stay the same. Considering middle, high, & elementary school ; there are already many that are free. Considering colleges ; it should be lowered. Many people that succeed in life (career/college) are from a very poor home. This making it even harder for people these days.

Side: Keep It As It Is

Fuck college! If everyone stopped going to college and educated themselves (which is more than easy considering the information thats available). Businesses would have to hire on something more substantial then how long (and how much money)a person has sunk into the worthless overrated system that is "higher education".

I have met more pretentious idiots with college degrees (and no job) than I would care to count.

Side: fuck college

I agree college degree are becoming less valuable with every pretentious idiot.
