As a result of lack of foresight and downright gross negligence the Western politicians, especially those of America and the U.K., have helped finance the rapid growth of China's military might. China will use just enough sabre rattling and, not so thinly veiled threats to retard, if not stop the West from disentangling their economies from their own, until it suits them. There is absolutely no politician in the West who would dare to even contemplate having a showdown with China. We've corralled ourselves into a, damage limitation situation and due to successive weak administrations are trapped in a position of only being able to react to our enemy's initiatives. The Chinese strategy was/is simple. Flood the Western markets with below cost goods thus weakening or destroying their industrial base along with the loss of the skills and executive abilities associated with commercial enterprise. Their targeted countries go bust, ( AS WE ARE), and have to beg steal or borrow, ( AS WE HAVE DONE AND CONTINUE TO DO) to try to keep up with our wealthier adversaries. We're growing weaker as the Chinese grow stronger. UNLESS WE HAVE STRONG AND DECISIVE LEADERSHIP SOON, IT'S ALL OVER BUT THE SHOUTING. Side: Conjecture & theories
