Spain and France used their fleets to attack British ships bringing supplies to forces in America.

"You mention Spain and France, aiding the colonies, but you do not mention Hanover supporting Great Britain, why is that? Hanover provided some 30,000 Hessian soldiers, France by comparison provided some 10,000 soldiers and Spain provided no soldiers."

If France and Spain had not aided you, chances of the rebellion succeeding would be near negligible.

"They didn't officially enter until the British declared war on France two or so years after the colonies rebelled. And gee, wanna know why? Everyone was tired of the British tyranny; including other countries like France and Spain, their heads were so far up their ass. So yeah, other countries took their shot at the British government, and naturally people with a common enemy are going to be allies."

Where they were is irrellevant, they called themselves americans and they were loyal to Britain, the fact that they were harrassed out of their own homes by rebels has nothing to do with the statement.
