What works for Sweden doesn't necessarily work for others. Their density, imports, gatherings, food processing, etc. is different from U.S., Useth thy head. ;-)

Notably, what Sweden is primarily being lauded for is its appeal to and trust in the average person to act with basic decency and compassion. I'm not sure how well that can be dismissed by vague allusion to "their density, imports, gatherings, food processing, etc."

That was the "useth thy head" part I was talking about. ;-)

The primary reason that Sweden is praiseworthy is that its approach emphasizes individual conscientiousness and responsibility during emergency, rather than invoking authoritarian powers out of a profound distrust of the average person and an excessive trust in government.

If the rest of Europe, and indeed America had followed/copied the same anti-covid-19 measures employed by Germany and Sweden it is reasonable to assume that the spread of this Chinese disease and the fatality rate would be similar to those of these two nations.

The U.K., could have dispensed with all their so called expert medical adviser's and hapless politicians standing behind pulpits waffling a string of long-winded statistics and well overdue counter-covid-19 proposals, and simply followed the successful actions of the clever Germans and Swedes.

Success should be recognized and, where necessary, modified to suit specific localized circumstances, but followed as closely as possible.

Indecisiveness, unpreparedness along with a disarranged anti-covid-19 strategy has led to the needless deaths of 1000s.

If in doubt, in a muddle or caught unprepared;- DO AS THE GERMANS DO.

The WHO is all over the place. If they're not shilling for China, they're telling you to believe what they're saying today, not what they told you yesterday.

@ HighFalutin;- It's clear that the W.H.O., were/are either incapable of identifying the obvious cover up of the origins and real cause of covid-19 or they are politically biased towards China.

Now that Yankee-Doodle-Dandy has withdrawn its financial support from this prejudiced and inept organization maybe, just maybe they'll try to put their house in order and approach all health issues objectively and without fear or favour.

This is not specifically to 'non-praise', but more a clarification.

Sweden's policy isn't that they "locked down nothing".

They closed schools over a certain grade, banned public events of 50 or more people, standing room in bars, visiting retirement homes, etc. ref ref

I'll definitely be interested in the lessons learned from their model. In the short-term, they know they will have more deaths, but how will they compare in the long-term when people in stricter countries could be more likely to flout the rules?
