I seriously believe waiting until you're 21 is ridiculous. My family is Spanish, there's no such thing as too young to drink at dinner, lol My brother and I are proof that being open about it, and letting us learn with family about how much we can drink is better than making us wait until we're on our own to figure it out ourselves. Well, I lived in Alberta, and the drinking age IS 18, and the province isn't up in flames... infact, all of Canada, incase you weren't aware, is either 18, or 19. If you are allowed to vote, allowed to purchase a gun, allowed to not be under gaurdianship, and gamble, and purchase porn... then yes, you should be allowed to drink, I think it's ridiculous to have the drinking age at 21! I'd actually be inclined to make it lower. 14 or so for beer and lighter drinks. Any age so long as they have a parent or guardian with them. The idea being to not make alcohol this exclusive and illegal thing that gets put on a pedestal, but another casual part of life that kids can grow up and get comfortable with while they are still at home. I used to get my choice of wine or beer with dinner starting around age nine. I drank enough to get intoxicated when younger and while with my parents several times as well. By the time i was exposed to illegally procured alcohol, it wasn't a big deal. Drinking illegally to drink illegally or drinking to get drunk held a lot less appeal. By the time i got to college, the idea of a bunch of over-excited lightweight 21 year olds getting super trashed playing beer pong and doing keg stands seemed impossibly foolish, but to them it's new and exciting and they're in one of the worst positions to be making all the first-time mistakes that come with drinking alcohol.
