People can get financial aid, but I don't know if that is directly from the government. If you go to a college in-state, then the state pays some of the tuition.

Where are you copy pasting these questions from? =P

You're in high school? Instead of sure you said "shere".

I think that the government should pay for college if you have a certain GPA, if you are averaging A's and B's then I see no reason why they shouldn't. Many kids end up not making it to college, not due to their grades. More due to the fact that they don't want to be in debt for the following 10 years trying to pay their dues off.

Ha! With that grammar I wouldn't really worry about college ;)

Because of this idea that "everyone needs a higher education" and "everyone should go to college" and the government offers extremely low interest loans to fund what I call the educational industrial complex that there are WAY too many college graduates and higher education is WAY too expensive.

Not everyone should go to college. In fact, what we need in this country are more people going to trade schools and willing to work blue collar jobs. Our shift to a service economy has left us with illusory profits, a shrinking middle class, and an almost nonexistent manufacturing sector keeping us dependent on foreign imports. And the icing on the cake today is now we have a whole generation of young people that are overeducated and unemployed with no transferable skills...thanks to college.

Let me explain to you how it used to be. It used to be that after you graduated high school, you went to work. You became an apprentice, you learned a trade, and that was your bread and butter. If you decided to save up enough money to go to college, then you did so and went in your spare time all without having to take out 6 figures worth of loans. Wealthy people went to college more often if they wanted to and it was more for intellectual endeavors not so much being groomed for a job.

Today, college is viewed as a means to get a good, high paying job. This couldn't be further from the truth. I know garbage men that make six figures and attorneys making ends meat. Because the government has made student loans so easily available, college tuition has risen twice as a fast as the rate of inflation. A good, high paying job doesn't seem so "good and high paying" when you have to pay nearly $1-2K a month in non-dischargeable student loans.

So in conclusion, not only should government not pay for post secondary education, they should stop lending money for college period.

No the government should not pay for post secondary education. Where will they get this money huh? It costs a lot of money to go to college. The only thing I would support is academic scholarships based on merit, then people that are less fortunate financially, can be rewarded for their hard work and endeavors in high school.

At the very least, libraries need to be well funded, syllabuses for classes available, and test credit cheap. Manufacturing isn't coming back to the states. working at walmart, starbucks etc only allows for a life not worth living(if your trying to be independent); Competition and demand for education is up as the result. We need better supply to match the demand so its more affordable, we need new, innovated methods of education. Online classes seem to be a step in the right direction. Government paying for the traditional forms of education is a lot of money, and doesn't fix the problem; actually it increases the amount of people who can go to college thus further increasing the demand; making it more expensive and raising competition in educated labor markets(which decreases the value of being educated).

It's a good idea. Higher Education should be instilled and students should never have to worry about a high student loan.
