The house of death

This story is the truth, I didn't make it up.
When I was ten years old I wandered into the forest one day. I lived near a state park with a pretty sizable forest. There are ancient stone structures in that forest, made by the Native Americans. They mostly consist of mounds, stone henge type structures, walls and stacks of balanced stones. On that day, I found a sort of tomb, and I found human skeletons inside. I came across a particularly large mound structure, I searched for an entrance and found one, in fact I fell into it. I had a shovel and light with me because I knew there were archeological finds to be made there. I dug in a spot close to the stone where the ground was curiously concave and ended up in a tunnel which lead to an underground chamber. I was worried the whole structure might collapse on me so I didn't stay long, but I did get a chance to inspect the ground with my flashlight and notice I was standing on a human rib cage. I saw several skeletal pieces scattered about along with a peculiar stone pillar with the form of a snake carved into it, wrapping around the pillar in a spiral.

Weirdest find I ever made wasn't even that.

There was an old abandoned hotel a couple of miles from my house that we used to mess around in as kids. Thinking back now it was pretty dangerous in there (no railings on the stairs etc...) and a lot of the local heroin addicts used to use the place to shoot drugs.

Anyway, when I was about 13 a bunch of builders came in and gutted the place. The next time I went in there it was weird as fuck. I only explored the ground floor this time (think they might have demolished the stairs) and everything on the entire floor was exactly the same rusty brown sandstone colour. There was nothing on the entire floor -- which was massive -- except these horrible brown coloured walls and floor. Except, when we eventually got to the far side of the hotel, in the furthest room from the entrance there was a metal rod. Literally, this rod was the only thing on the entire floor which wasn't brown. I didn't have a clue what it was or what it was used for, but there was a old-fashioned ship engraved at the top of the rod and underneath there was a single word: Revenge. Weirdest shit ever. Never seen anything like it since. Still no idea what it was (my best guess would be that it was some kind of fire poker maybe), but I remember all of us got creeped out by it to the point that we fled the hotel and never went back.

It's difficult to explain unless you were actually there, but it was some really creepy shit.

I found some ribs in a dilapidated old shed in the middle of nowhere when I was a kid. There were a bunch of us exploring the fields near where I used to live and we just stumbled across it. When we got back we told a security guard working at a local building site and he came back down with us to have a look. He radioed it in somewhere but from what he said it seemed he thought it was some kind of animal slaughterhouse. Place was grim.
