The middle class must pay huge deductibles & premiums so others get free healthcare

Tell me whats wrong with this picture. Hard working families who chose not to destroy their lives with promiscuous sex & drugs & alcohol, who lived responsibly and started families. Woudn't you think that Government would want to lift them up as role models for all to see. Wouldn't you think Government would want to reward responsibility instead of punishing it with unaffordble healthcare? Tell me why so many people making terrible life choices get rewarded with free healthcare, free abortions, free birth control, free vision care, free mental care etc. while the hard working tax paying middle class must settle for catastrophic care only because it costs too much to have what the poor people get for free.

Can Democrats possibly be any more wrong about their politics and priorities in this nation. Their priorities being the low income voting blocks that keep them in power. No nation can keep panderng to irresponsibility while punishing responsibility. The people on the right have no problem helping out the disabled, the helpless, those who can not help themselves. It's the millions of dead beat able bodied Americans living off the sweat of others that the GOP has a real problem with. It's time to stop the madness of stealing from the truly needy by pandering to able bodied people who refuse to work and live responsibility. Poor people were already cared for through medicaid. We needed no Obamacare to steal more from the middle class to buy votes from minorities just as they are trying to do with illegal immigrants.

Maybe this landslide victory for the GOP is the start of America taking back it's sanity. I won't hold my breathe.

We have made the great and possibly fatal mistake of handing out free everything for at least three generations. Our "War On Poverty" has not only failed to stem the growth of poverty, but created a dependent class, who's numbers have swelled to a majority. Among voters there a slight, but critically majority, for the first time. When people discover that they can vote themselves money, democracy stands in peril.

Our democracy has been in peril for quite some time, because of more reasons than simply this. Just an added thought to throw in.

Ok – Yeah but the argument was only about healthcare and who is paying for it. IMHO the argument, as stated is correct.

So those that are sincerely can't afford the best treatment will die. This doesn't matter as long as you punish those druggies and other low lives that would exploit the system I suppose.

It is just a question of what sort of society we want to live in. Personally, a society in which everyone gets the best treatment is a society I want to live in. Is this worth me earning less money because I lose it through tax? Yes.

The biggest problem, as I see it, is the abuse of the system by both politicians and dishonest citizens who have caused the system to go haywire. Politicians dipping into funds that we have put into (i.e. social security) and citizens gaining benefits unlawfully (i.e. disability). According to the media, disability benefits are about to go bankrupt and social security will be dead within a number of years. The 2008 recession saw people with college education and degrees losing their jobs and homes, and finding themselves in need of government assistance. While a percentage of people seeking welfare are drug addicts and alcoholics, and people who abuse the system there are many who have genuine need. But, it is always those few bad apples that spoil the whole bunch. In basic training it's always that one moron that gets the entire unit in trouble. Dishonest people always make it harder on the rest of us, whether they are poor, middle class or wealthy. The problems in this country are not just the fault of the poor. It wasn't the poor that caused the 2008 recession. it isn't the poor that are stealing the Social Security money. It isn't the poor starting wars costing billions of dollars. Trillions of dollars of debt were not caused by the poor alone, to be certain. The middle class and the poor alike get screwed over by the wealthy. Long story short, this country has been in trouble for quite some time and for many various reasons. The poor did not make the decision to move factories out of the country or give tax breaks to the ones that did. Nor did the poor create our taxes or our tax system that seems to make it difficult for the middle class as well. Healthcare has been a big problem in this country for quite some time. Insurance companies, with powerful lobbyists have been driving up the costs at hospital's for years. why not just do it like Canada? you pay a little bit extra in taxes for the things you buy, and then you walk into a hospital and walk out with no bill. Also, in the Canadian welfare system, you HAVE to do some kind of work to gain benefits. Good system they have in place.

I agree that dishonest citizens abuse the healthcare system. We are NOT dealing with accountability in many federal giveaway programs.

To clarify the last thought, and counter any argument forthcoming regarding my previous statement, know that the vast majority of Canadians do not come to America for healthcare. Only a small percentage.

This argument never meant to place blame on the poor. It as placing blame on a corrupt Government pandering to one segment of our population all for the express purpose of getting their vote. Do you actually think the Democrat party(the party of late term abortions on demand for any reason) actually has compassion for the helpless? I've got a bridge to sell you. It is all about politics. They care nothing for middle class families who can no longer afford health insurance. Democrats have compassion for only those who vote for them.

The poor most definitely are taking from our social security programs(when many times they never paid a nickle in to it) because the Democrat party needed more money to pander to those voters. The poor are definitely bankrupting this nation, not from laws created by them, but rather from laws created by Democrats. I'm not saying the GOP is not partly to blame, they have had to capitulate too many times or face Democrat attacks which would cost them GOP elections.

Yes Canadians can walk into hospitals MONTHS after they called in for an appointment. There are huge waiting lists where some people die before getting in. That will be the result of Obamacare in this nation when all of our private insurances go bankrupt.

Wars are a necessary evil to stop the evil in this world such as terrorists, Communists, dictators, etc. etc. You can spew the same tired rhetoric of Democrats who complain of the cost of our military while they have supported every war we've ever gotten into, many that they themselves started such as Vietnam. Our military keeps us all free whether it be the Rich, middle class or poor.

Rich corporations create our jobs and should be rewarded, not attacked. Who cares if people get rich when they do so much good for our nation. Are they perfect? NO! Are you perfect? We need to change our tax policies if we want to keep our jobs here in America. Stop punishing our job creators.

To clarify some of your thoughts: #1 I am NOT Democrat. if you took the time to read my profile, you would see I am independent. #2 I do believe wars, at times, are necessary. However, I also believe that the concept of war can be ( and has been) abused by those in power. saying so does not make one less patriotic. It simply means you do not take things people say at face value. #3 I do not believe the Democrats actually care for the poor, no more than Republicans actually care for the middle class. For both parties they are about money and the votes. To think otherwise, I believe is complete naivety. #4 by your own words, it seems that indeed the poor are your scapegoat. #5 I believe partisanship makes fools out of highly intelligent people. #6 if healthcare in Canada was so bad, a far greater percentage of Canadians would be coming to America for their health care. #7 I am not for obamacare, neither did I sign up for it. #8 I served in the military. The army, to be precise. I was artillery, 13 bravo as a cannon crew member in an M109 self propelled howitzer. I was stationed in the 329 th at Fort Carson Colorado. I have nothing but respect for our soldiers, and nothing but disdain for the corrupt politicians who send our boys into battle for their own personal gains, and the gains of the wealthy. #9 when the rich get richer, they can also become more corrupt. Corruption abounds in our government, because of the influence of corrupt rich people. Make a case for them all you want. the world isnt as black and white as you portray it.

A large number of Republicans and Democrats signed the National Defense Authorization Act in 2012, allowing the government to detain any US citizen without due process and for an unlimited amount of time. Both parties signed the Patriot Act which, in essence,is the act that will effectively destroy our civil liberties. Both parties are for having drones over the continental United States. Both parties approve of the Federal Reserve as an independent entity, not subject to the United States government (an entity they both created). both parties have invested in company stocks of which they have signed legislation for. Both parties are for quantative easing, allowing the Federal Reserve to put trillions of dollars into our economy ( trillions of dollars that we don't actually have). both parties have spent billions of dollars on their campaigns over the years, and spend millions of dollars on their conventions ( tax payer money). Shall I go on? How do those numbers stack up, so far, compared to what some of the poor have done to this country? Numbers please.

Republicans are just as much to blame as democrats for the demise of this country. You defend one party, as if they are the heroes trying to save us, when in fact, they are no better than the other. They argue on Capitol hill, then go to balls and parties together at night.
